Founded by Jonathan Jones, 2001films is a production company based in New York, specializing in commercials, music videos and documentaries, and currently moving towards projects launched through social media, using Twitter, Twitter videos, YouTube and Instagram. Jonathan has over 18 years of experience working in all facets of production with some of the brightest and most successful producers,
directors, actors and production teams in the film and television industry. Hailing from Richmond, VA, Jonathan began at the early age of 16, working in the location departments before moving into set production. Some of the features he worked on include films such as Big Daddy, You’ve Got Mail, Deep Impact, Major Payne, Studio 54, GI Jane, the HBO miniseries John Adams and NBC’s Law and Order SVU. At Base Productions, one of the top docudrama production companies, he field produced Seasons 1 and 2 of A&E’s Crime 360 in Los Angeles, coordinating with field crews nationwide. He then produced the second season of Sports Science for Fox Sports Net. Working with a team of talented crew, animals and operators, Jones produced 30 out of 60 segments to air. Sport Science 2 went on to win an Emmy for Outstanding New Approach to Sports Programming. Currently in New York at CBS Worldwide Distribution, Jones distributes some of the greatest American Television Classics across the nation in partnership with Stanley H. Moger, founder of SFM Entertainment and owner of over 6,000 classic titles. Together, he and Moger are working to preserve fragile, classic content that has been preserved in the vaults of CBS for over 40 years. They are delivering 96 episodes of The Flip Wilson Show for the launch of Magic Johnson’s Aspire Network. Jonathan is also working with cutting edge New York distribution company, New Video, delivering The Joey Bishop Show, Real McCoys and David Wolper’s Marilyn Monroe, meeting the contemporary distribution demands of iTunes. Previously, Jonathan worked with CBS Worldwide in International Distribution, coordinating America’s Next Top Model in all franchises. He also coordinated with CBS Worldwide to handle test screeners for new international territory distribution and festivals such as MIPCOM.
2001Films has two feature films in various stages of production: Shot and Want and Curiosity. Shot will be filmed in Richmond, VA and is a period piece dealing with the turbulent political times of a 1968 Richmond. It is currently scripted and early financed. Want and Curiosity captures the energy of New York’s East Village life. The script was the winner of the writing competition at the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival.
