Ethiopia's largest cement factory to start operating soon

Once fully operational, the factory is expected to boost the East African country's annual cement production capacity by 8 million metric tons

The mega cement production factory is also expected to create employment opportunities for some 20,000 Ethiopians.

The Lemi National Cement Factory is under construction at a cost of $600 million at Lemi Building Materials Industrial Park, some 150 km north of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

Is Seychelles Africa’s Ireland?

In 2015 Apple shifted $300 billion worth of IP assets and over $10 billion worth of profits to their Ireland's headquarter. This move catapulted Ireland’s GDP per capita to one of the highest in the world. However, the problem is, the money that Apple moved to Ireland was not in circulation, it was sitting in the banks. In other words, Apple artificially pumped Ireland’s GDP per capita.

Now lets’ talk about Seychelles. With the GDP per capita of $12 000, Seychelles is the richest country in Africa and the only high income country in Africa. However studies that assess prosperity by using methods other than GDP measurements, tell a different story.

Both AfrAsia and Africa Wealth Reports assess countries' prosperity based on properties, cash, businesses and equities held by individuals living in a country rather than GDP per capita and their findings raise questions.

For instance, The Africa Wealth Report of 2022 listed 17 wealthiest countries in Africa by wealth per capita and surprisingly, Seychelles, the richest in Africa in terms of GDP per capita did not make the list. The same findings was reached by the AfrAsia 2021 report.

Could it be that there are some foreign companies artificially pumping Seychelles GDP per capita?

Launched by President Tshisekedi in December 2023 the Kinshasa Financial Center is a financial hub strategically located in Kinshasa. Covering a total area of 41,000 square meters, it is the largest financial center in the DRC. The center houses key institutions such as the Ministries of Finance and Budget, the General Directorates, the General Inspectorate of Finance, the General Secretariat of Finance, and the Development Bank. It is administered by the state-owned Investment Fund commercial entity, which supervises real estate assets like the financial and convention centers.

The original version, Nkosi Sikelel iAfrica (God Bless Africa) was written by a South African man named Enoch Sontonga in 1879.

By the 1920s, the song was part of the collection of songs for liberation struggle movements in South Africa

It was adopted by Tanzania in 1961, Zambia in 1964, Namibia in 1990 and South Africa in 1994.
