Caitlin Clark has been a revelation in the WNBA but one college star could be coming for her crown
Caitlin Clark has served up a classy gesture to wonderkid Juju Watkins, who could prove a threat to the former’s WNBA crown.

Clark has been a revelation in the WNBA this year, helping drive popularity ratings for the league through the roof.
Viewership, ticket sales and merchandise have all increased since Clark made her professional debut for the Indiana Fever, with her performances helping her dominate the Rookie of the Year award.

She only missed out on one of the 67 votes from the panel of sportswriters and broadcasters, with everyone wanting a piece of Clark mania.
But such has been the 22-year-old’s success, attention has already switched to who the ‘next Caitlin Clark’ might end up being, with Watkins currently in the conversation.
Watkins will have to wait a while before making her WNBA debut though, given she only began life as a college basketballer last year.
But Watkins has been tipped for big things, with WNBA star Clark leading the charge.

Reminiscing a conversation between the pair, USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb told Orange County Register: “She [Clark to Watkins] was like, ‘I had the attention for a year and a half, two years. You’re going to have it for the next three.”
A bold claim from Clark, but one Watkins has so far stood up to.

And the 19-year-old even extended a thank you to Clark in a recent interview, suggesting her words of wisdom have helped Watkins handle the limelight.

Watkins said: “She’s great. Goes to show how good a person she is outside of basketball.

“To have that kind of mentorship and that relationship with her, it definitely means a lot.

“She’s had the biggest impact on women’s basketball and being able to see her journey is really inspiring.”

Iowa Hawkeyes head coach Jan Jensen has opened up about working with WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark and her effect on team-mates.
Caitlin Clark's passion and dedication to elevating her team set her apart from squad-mates, according to one of her former coaches. At just 22, Clark has already become the WNBA's most influential player, leading the Indiana Fever to the playoff for the first time in six campaigns years.

It was a campaign where she became the first player ever to unanimously win the Rookie of the Year award. Clark is revolutionising women's basketball, playing a pivotal role in the soaring popularity of the WNBA.
Jan Jensen, who coached Clark at Iowa Hawkeyes and now serves as head coach, praised her desire and basketball brain, even comparing her mentality to that of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, even if it led to some brusied egoes in the squad. Jensen told the Mailender Podcast: "You had to get everybody else understanding how rare she was.
"We had to work really hard on the chemistry and culture piece. When Caitlin came in, she had such a high expectation. And if you study Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan, they were really big on trust and basketball IQ.

"So for Caitlin, if she didn't think you were in the gym as much as you should be, then we're... not gonna pass you the ball. Because my shot from 40 [feet] is going to be more consistent than maybe yours is from 15."
Jensen reflected on the stark reality check that Clark's team-mates faced, adding: "They think they work hard. Their maybe 100 shots after practice is what they've always done, and they get their feelings hurt."
"Because [Clark] looks them off, she doesn't pass. Now, typical, well their feelings are hurt... She might believe in you, but at that moment, the pass, she doesn't believe you've put in the work as much as she has to take the shot."
After opting not to participate in the upcoming 3x3 Unrivaled series, despite a lucrative offer, Clark is enjoying a longer offseason than some of her fellow WNBA stars. Speaking about negotiations with Clark, Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell said: "We went through our negotiations.

"Inevitably, she needed time this offseason, which we respect, so we hope to see her next year. She won't be playing this year."

Clark is instead focusing on her golf game, appearing at several Pro-Am tournaments as she looks to embrace another of her sporting passions.

Stephen Curry has been singing Caitlin Clark’s praises so much we’ve probably lost count by now. But now, it looks like the entire Curry family is officially on the Caitlin Clark fan train. And we did know her magic seems to work on all ages. However, this time, it was clear her charm even works on tiny tots who might not fully understand the game yet.
As the youngest member of Team Caitlin, we have Daxon Curry. Over the weekend, while at the Suns-Warriors game in Phoenix, Sydel Curry—Steph’s sister—shared an adorable Instagram Story that melted hearts. In the clip, her son, Daxon, was absolutely mesmerized by none other than Caitlin Clark, who was surprisingly in attendance to watch the game, too.
Sydel captioned it with humor, “Sis always gonna catch a vibe lol. Daxon is staring at one of his favs (Caitlin Clark) lol.” And honestly, can you blame the kid? CC’s presence at NBA games is a rare treat.

She doesn’t often pop up at NBA games aside from the Indiana Pacers. Her appearance caused quite a stir online, with videos and pictures of her spotting going viral. The game the 2024 ROTY attended was nothing short of a showdown. The Suns defeated the Warriors 113-105, with Devin Booker leading the charge.

Phoenix’s incredible 3-point shooting proved too much for Golden State. Steph Curry, as always, was a highlight, putting up 23 points and a fourth-quarter rally that came close to flipping the script. But just couldn’t.

But we must give it to Steph as even in defeat, he shone through, and Caitlin, a long-time admirer, would surely have noticed. After all, she’s been open about her respect for the NBA star’s game. Back during the Olympics, she called his performance against France a “cheat code,” appreciating his unreal skills.

Meanwhile, Curry has always been heaping praise on her, too. He even addressed the talk about their similarities. Although Steph downplayed it, fans can’t help but notice how much she resembles him on the court.

Caitlin Clark channeling her inner Steph
The 4x NBA Champion expressed that while he appreciates the chatter about their similarities, he believes those comparisons can be a bit unfair to the W star. Because they often overshadow her well-rounded skill set. “Her shooting ability is her superpower, but the rest of her game is as polished as that,” he said.
Well, this is high praise from the greatest shooter in basketball history. But despite him dismissing it, there’s no doubt both shooters do share striking similarities. Even back in October, the Indiana Fever star was seen mastering Steph Curry’s signature.

WNBA salaries continue to be a hot topic..

Caitlin Clark is a superstar in every sense of the word. Starting with her legendary college basketball career at Iowa where she garnered an incredible following, Clark has translated it into more fans and a great start to her WNBA career. Clark won the Rookie of the Year award and led the Indiana Fever to the playoffs.

Given the long period of time off from one WNBA season to the next, many expected Caitlin Clark to join Unrivaled, the new 3-on-3 basketball league spearheaded by WNBA stars. The league promises higher salaries than the WNBA, but Clark has been adamant that she needs time away from the game for a little while. The money would have been nice, but Clark actually has another way of making just as much as she would playing in Unrivaled, with a fraction of the time and energy.

According to Don Steinbrugge, the CEO of Agecroft Partners, Clark is willing to speak at public events for a hefty fee. Her rate for a 30 minute session is $100,000.

Clark's WNBA salary is $76,535, so she makes more with a 30-minute speech than she does during a whole WNBA season. At Unrivaled, her salary would have likely been more than that $100,000 number, but not by much. All she needs to do during the offseason is speak for 30 minutes, but it's clear that her motivation isn't really about money.

Fans Loved Caitlin Clark's Bond With Brothers at NBA and Butler Games
Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was seen watching basketball with her family over Thanksgiving weekend.
Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has been seen attending many basketball games during her WNBA offseason.

Most of these have been either Butler University men's college basketball games or Indiana Pacers NBA games. And for the most part, she has been sitting with her boyfriend Connor McCaffery if it's a Pacers game and either Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton or McCaffery's family at Butler games.

However, at the two most recent games Clark was present at, she was sitting alongside two relatively unfamiliar faces for some of her fans: her two brothers, Blake and Colin.

The three Clark siblings were present and sitting courtside at the Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns NBA game on December 30. Clark was sandwiched between her older brother Blake (who was seated to her right and played college football at Iowa State University) and her younger brother Colin (seated to her left).

Fans found it funny that the Clarks were sitting in chronological order according to their age at the game, which X user alluded to in a video of the three of them sitting together with the caption, "I love how Blake, Caitlin and Colin always sit in order of birth 😆😆😆".

Caitlin also brought her two brothers to Butler's game against Mississippi State on Friday. X user posted a photo of Clark signing autographs at that Butler game with both brothers close by, captioning it, "her brothers are lowkey her bodyguards 😭".

"Blake is probably the most protective brother ever," one X user commented.

It's cool to see Clark spending time with her family this winter, as she surely had little time to do so while her rookie season was underway.

Indiana Fever standout Lexie Hull discussed the impact her friendship with Caitlin Clark has had, both on and off the court.
Anybody who followed the Indiana Fever during the 2024 season could tell that many of the team's players had great relationships with each other, both on and off the court.

This was conveyed on the court by the chemistry that Indiana's high-powered offense exuded, which led to a lot of assists (primarily from Caitlin Clark).
And the Fever's off-court chemistry was shown through various social media posts and comments from Fever players like Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull, and Clark.

Perhaps the strongest bond was between Hull and Clark, who have spent a lot of time together off of the court since the 2024 WNBA season ended. And Hull got honest about the value of this friendship during her November 29 interview on the "Convos With The W" She’s4Sports series.

"I think it was important to get to know her off of the court," Hull said of Clark. "Because I do think that connections, getting to know people, really play a part in the success of teams.
"And it's really awesome to get to know her as well, because she's a great person," Hull added. "But you have all these expectations put on her, and our team has put on her, and fans have put on her. So to see her kind of be so mature in that transition has been awesome, and I'm just really proud to have her on the team."
There's no question that Clark has handled these massive expectations with a ton of grace, and surely will continue to do so as her WNBA career progresses.

One standout moment was Will’s sweet post on Lexie’s birthday, where he called her his “best friend and better half.” This sentiment was met with an outpouring of love from their followers.
