David Mamet, Redbelt, BJJ & Hugh Fitzgerald! Ssy no more! Episode 4!

Hugh Fitzgerald is a Los Angeles based actor, writer, BJJ Black Belt and fight trainer at the legendary 87 Eleven Action Design and 87 North. Nearly 20 years ago, a struggling New York based theater actor, Hugh had a chance meeting with David Mamet that would literally change his life. That meeting opened doors he never could have imagined and paved the way for a transformative career in the film industry. His foray into this world was Mamet's love story to BJJ and the Martial Arts - Redbelt - which ushered Hugh into a community of martial artists and filmmakers who would go on to become legends in the industry. We start at the opening scene of Redbelt, which offers one of the earliest depictions of BJJ and grappling on the American screen. Sit back and get ready for a thoughtful, philosophical and genuine discussion on martial arts, film, the struggles of working in the film business and magic. Yes - Magic.

Episode 004 - 'There Is No Escaping Hugh Fitzgerald' available on YouTube, wherever you listenn to podcasts and the RAGE Works podcast network.

WE WANT YOUR QUESTIONS FOR AN UPCOMING EPISODE!

Hi all! We start recording the second half of our first season shortly. Can you believe it?

You can ask us about the podcast itself. About our thoughts on a particular film or show. About the stunt or film business (we get asked all the time about getting into stunts). About martial arts. Maybe about Paul or Steve's life or career experiences (in or out of the film business). Have at it. Be creative! If we get to your question on the show we will give you a shout out too!

We want you to get to know us and we want to know what's on your mind. Post a comment or send us a message. We want to dive into your questions!
