Our Story
In 1982 Steve & Sherri founded San Diego Off Roader, later called San Diego Off Road Magazine, which grew to serve off road enthusiasts far beyond the county of San Diego. Moving to the off road community of Ocotillo Wells CA in 2004, they incorporated as S&S Publishing, Inc. shortly thereafter and in January 2010 changed the name of the magazine to S&S Off Road Magazine.
In spring 2020 with the onset of a nationwide economic shutdown and faced with tough decisions to make about the magazine, Steve & Sherri transitioned to what they call a Super Digital format, which became 2-3 times the size of the original print magazine, featuring full color on every page. For readers who prefer to continue reading a print copy, they began with the May 2020 Super Digital edition also publishing what they call a “magazine/book” format on Amazon. The contents are the same as the digital magazine but it looks like a full color 8.5”x11” paperback book.
Steve & Sherri met as teenagers in the local canyons where dirt bikes and off roading was popular. Steve started riding motorcycles in 1968 when he was 14. Desert riding, canyon riding (back in the day when you could) and flat track racing have always been his favorites. Over the past 45+ years they have owned dune buggies, quads, a Baja bug, short course cars, four wheel drives and, of course, motorcycles. Lots of them.
