Storyline: A respected food critic is harshly reviewing Las Vegas restaurants. A disguised man enters an elevator containing three "chefs." When their personal history and animosity towards each other causes the elevator to break down, their attention turns to the man hiding his identity who clearly knows a thing or two about fine dining.

[SOPHIE] Female, 21-35, open ethnicity. Came to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party at the age of 21 and never left. Sweet, intelligent, demure but with a fiery passionate side. Has some culinary training but not "chef" status but as in everything in Las Vegas, fake it until you make it.

[THE CRITIC] Male, 45-65, open ethnicity, IDEALLY on the shorter side. Intelligent, has no patience for the big, flashy, phoney Las Vegas-style of restaurant food. He is arrogant when it comes to his job and a harsh critic but there is a soft side when people are genuine. Character is Italian.

[TODD] Male, 20-37, open ethnicity. Must be conventionally attractive. Came to Las Vegas for a bachelor party at the age of 21 and never left, former high school athlete that always scored with the cheerleaders and still has a good line. Instantly got a job at one of the many Vegas restaurants because he hooked up with the owner one evening after a few too many drinks. He became her boy-toy for a while until he could afford to invest in his own restaurant. No formal culinary training. As in everything in Las Vegas, big and flashy with not a lot of depth. Similar to the "stereotype" Todd has his pick of the litter to a certain extent, but the women around him are interested in him more because of his "looks" than his mind.

I am honored to have been approached and interviewed about my company and my experiences in casting by Rich Monetti, and by Scriptmag.com / Script Magazine. Rich Monetti asked thorough and in-depth questions about what my casting process includes and the various components that come into play at the different stages of a project for me. I hope that this article serves to provide insight for friends, artists and collaborators and I look forward to the next production!

Since it premiered at Fantastic Fest, Sean Temple and Sarah Wisner’s THE THAW has been continuing it’s successful run on the festival circuit! This film is, in my opinion, truly their best work yet and I am thrilled to see this work getting the attention it deserves (although there was never a doubt in my mind from the day I read the script, that it would be a triumph).

These photos are just SOME of the wonderful press from the Telluride Horror Show!

I would like to give a special thanks to PopHorror.com and Jennifer Bonges for the write up as well.

I truly cannot express how thrilled I am to see these stunning production shots from THE THAW (which we finished casting and was supposed to be filmed in March 2020)! Working with Sean Temple and Sarah Wisner is an absolute joy and I am going to just share the post the lovely Sean Temple shared yesterday!

From Sean Temple and Sarah Wisner: There were many times in the last three years where THE THAW felt like it wasn’t mean to be. It’s fitting a film about finding glimmers of hope in the darkest moments was revived by the creativity, technical skill, kind hearts & determination of its cast, crew, location owners, and our families. So many folks have contributed to this film over the years, including our friends, colleagues, and incredible Seed&Spark supporters. Every one of you made The Thaw possible and elevated it beyond our wildest dreams. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🖤🐑❄️🎬

✨HURT PEOPLE: NEW AGES AND INCREASED RATES✨

Sara Koch Casting is currently accepting non-union submissions via Breakdown Services and Actors Access for the reoccurring role of MARGE THIBODAUX in the web series HURT PEOPLE created by Kyler Porche and Jamar JShade Travis with additional writing by Sophia Grafa and assistant director Stephen Tonti. On Breakdown Services and Actors Access this project is titled "HURT PEOPLE, Episode II (Re-release MARGE - new rate/age range)." This project will be live now through end of day March 16th, 2023 and will be filming in New Orleans, Louisiana March 31st - April 2nd (In THIS episode Marge will only require one day of shooting). The rate of pay is a minimum of $200/day. Please submit and feel free to contact me directly here with any questions you may have about the role or project. Additionally - feel free to share this post/breakdown with anyone you feel should be considered for either of these roles.

NOTE: Please include in submissions:
- Are you a local hire?
- Are you able to self report to set in New Orleans?
- Do you have a background in music, poetry, hip-hop, or are you Shakespearian trained? Do you have a sense of meter?

MARGE THIBODAUX: 40 to 55 years old; white; woman. Kevin's mom. Is rough around the edges trailer park type. Marge suffers from the dilemmas of her past, so to tune out the trauma she parties and drinks and is unapologetic about who she is. Marge's selfishness and how she handles her problems has played a direct role with how Kevin currently deals with his mental instability. Although aware of her actions, she still latches on to Kevin because he is the only person that she has. Marge understands that she didn't provide the ideal lifestyle for Kevin, but holds him in high regards because of the life he build for himself. THIS ROLE WILL BE A SERIES REGULAR AND WILL BE RECITING POETRY ON SCREEN AT TIMES.

Synopsis of HURT PEOPLE: The pain we encounter in this world is not always from the outside, but from within. Our mental state is often the hardest battle we have to face on a day to day basis. We enter right in the middle of our characters' lives, challenged by what we all experience at some point. Heart break, death, break ups, and so much more that can bring out the darkest sides of ourselves.
Some moments in these stories are told from the viewpoints of the mental instabilities, and insecurities in narrated clips of poetry. The poetic dialogue by some of the characters we follow showcases the intense darkness that we can struggle with internally. Also, showing that everyone close to us could be facing their own demons, keeping it hidden from the ones we love most.

Sara Koch Casting would like to thank the stellar performers who sent in self-taped auditions for “Hurt People - Episode II.” I have often said this of my company and our industry: If an actor has the time to submit an audition ➡️ I will always make the time to review it. This process can only benefit from an environment of mutual respect AT ALL TIMES between production teams and onscreen artists — don’t you think?

Remember her name: Elena Maro Music.

I had the absolute joy of working with this focused, brilliantly creative and musically inspired composer - Elena Maro - on Borrowed Plumes this past year. Yet, yesterday I finally had the privilege to sit down and connect face-to-face over brunch. Fortunately for me, she was in New York for a screening of the movie “Tell It Like A Woman” at the United Nations…a movie which she also scored the segment “Aria.” Oh! And this project HAPPENS to nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song for “Applause” by Diane Warren.

This is an extraordinarily gifted artist who happens to be female - as well as one enchanted human. I could go into specifics about the conversation etc…but truly her work and her passion speaks for itself. I can not wait to work with her again and to see what she does next! Whatever it is - it is going to be stellar!
