PIN UP Magazine PIN–UP is a Magazine for Architectural Entertainment

PIN–UP captures an architectural spirit, rather than focusing on technical details of design, by featuring interviews with architects, designers, and artists, and presenting work as an informal work in progress – a fun assembly of ideas, stories and conversations, all paired with cutting-edge photography and artwork. Both raw and glossy, the magazine is a nimble mix of genres and themes, finding i

nspiration in the high and the low by casting a refreshingly playful eye on rare architectural gems, amazing interiors, smart design, and that fascinating area where those areas connect with contemporary art.

“Everything is permissible as long as it is fantastic.” – 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙤 𝙈𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙤

Instead of presenting a new collection this Milan Fashion Week, Bottega Veneta hosted 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨, a performance by and inspired by Italian architect and designer 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙤 𝙈𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙤 (1905–73), at the brand’s new headquarters in the former Manzoni Theater, renovated by .

One of the main elements of the scenography: the bed from Casa Mollino, the mysterious apartment the late architect meticulously designed in Turin yet never spent a night in (which Patti Smith photographed herself in the first two photos above).

Before the performance, toured Casa Mollino to learn more about the space and the lore that inspired the performance.

“The space perfectly embodies our brand.” — 𝗞𝗶𝗺 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗮𝗻

Few have had a more significant impact on the popular image of the female form in the 21st century than Kim Kardashian. , the entrepreneur’s multi-million-dollar bodywear empire, now has its first flagship store worthy of such influence. Located on New York’s 5th Avenue and designed by Rafael de Cárdenas .ltd, the three-story building — formerly home to Versace — has been transformed into a sleek total vision that’s part Greek temple, part Rationalist Palazzo della Civiltà, part Calabasas mansion, bathed in an Ultrasuede color palette of the brand’s signature creams, beiges, tans, and soft pinks, designed to mirror various skin tones. At its center, a 15-foot Vanessa Beecroft sculpture further underscores the SKIMS founder’s role as a modern-day Aphrodite — 647 Fifth Avenue is now her place of worship.

De Padova worked with some of the most influential designers, including , , , , , , and of course . “In order to work with steel you have to speak to it very sweetly.” — 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗮𝘆 (1930–2023)

To sum up the life and career of in a few words is impossible. Born in 1930 to Russian parents, Pergay spent part of her childhood in what is now Moldova. When her father, a Russian spy, was arrested and sent to the gulag, she and her mother escaped to France. After WWII, Pergay began making beautiful objects out of sterling silver, but it wasn’t until the 1960s that her long love affair with steel began, one of the most virile of materials, which she passionately and artfully bent, welded, and wrought into shapely submission.

“I didn’t want to erase the building — I just wanted to renovate it.” — 𝗝𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗶𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗻

After seven months, it’s a wrap for the 60th Venice Art Biennale. A lot has changed since, with cultural shifts shaping the moment. It’s a good time to revisit the work of Jeffrey Gibson , the first Indigenous artist to take over the U.S. Pavilion building with a dynamic exploration of Indigenous identity, history, and culture, blending elements of contemporary art with Native traditions. In his interview with PIN–UP, he discusses art, beauty, color, and his hope for a future where Indigenous voices lead.
