This is just an example of why you should never allow "white or black" elitist filmmakers to decide what audiences want.
Truth is,, the filmmaker industry is filled with SNOBS and FAKES!
This movie "BY FAR" exceeds many films considered for Academy Awards. Does it matter what others think if you LOVE A FILM? If it connects with "your" interests or life experiences, does budget matter? I remember Robert Townsend begging people to support this film on opening weekend. It did not last long in theaters at all.
AND STILL PUTS A FOOT IN THE BUTTS OF MOST INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED FILMS!
