CASTING: Extras

Men between ages 25-65. To portray 1930s/1940s gangsters/mobsters for a development sizzle for award winning NYC production company. Must be available from approximately 11:30am - 5:30pm on Tuesday, January 9th. Location is Red Hook, BK. Lunch will be provided. Non-Union. Pay is $100.

All talent will be seated around a table playing cards/poker. Ideally, talent should generally know how to play poker. No speaking lines. Director may ask you to improv some movement in the moment.

Wardrobe:
Talent should have dress shoes, ideally black — and generic enough that they don’t seem too modern. We can provide some costuming, please let us know if you have 1930s/1940s looking attire already - like fedoras, suspenders, white undershirt, white tank top, generic black or dark brown slacks.

We are IN THE ROOM with Broadway darling & DJ - Ari Groover! (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical Head Over Heels, Holler If Ya Hear Me).

Look who’s back…. back again. We have returned from hibernation with the one, the only - Ari Groover! Steven is now working at TINA on Broadway as a dresser, and brought his fabulous colleague Ari into our virtual room. Ari has been a fixture of NYC theatre for awhile, and is currently starring in TINA as Tina’s sister Alline and also understudies the role of Tina.

But Ari made waves the night she went on as Tina in March ‘22. And you probably didn't know, Marjorie, that Ari was not just any Tina, she was the Tina. She didn't lose just a wig, that wig was on fire. And when that wig flew into the air, it flew higher, further, faster than any wig has ever flown before, hitting a transformer and showering the darkened theatre with sparks! And when it finally did come down, Marjorie, Ari threw that tousled wig into the wings, and 12,000 people jumped to their feet for sixteen and one-half minutes of uninterrupted thunderous ovation, as flames illuminated her tear-stained face! And that, Marjorie – just so you will know and your children will someday know – is the night that the wig flew OFF at TINA!

Last episode of the year! We made it to the end of 2021, babes!! We can’t wait to roll up our proverbial sleeves and start another year. Steven started a new career path and tells us all about his wild nights on Broadway (during Covid!) as a dresser! Dana is speaking quietly as to not wake up her new baby nephew. Steven has a long lost family member? Dana loves her Buy Nothing Astoria group. We play our end-of-year game called “What Were You Doing On?” where we choose random dates from 2021 and recount said days. It’s thrilling. If you made it to the end of the episode, you A) are our moms, 😎 are our best friends, or C) forgot the episode was playing. WE LOVE OUR LISTENERS and we hope you have a grand end of 2021, and a fabulous new year. We will see you in February with the freshest of eps!

Niki Metcalf (Tracy Turnblad) and Toneisha Harris (Motormouth Maybelle) will be lighting up the country in the new National Tour of HAIRSPRAY starting November 12th! You may know Toneisha Harris as the Season 18 runner-up on NBC’s “The Voice” (famously half-filmed during quarantine) or from Season 4 of BET’s gospel competition show “Sunday Best.” During the finale of “The Voice,” Toneisha was able to share an original song, “My Superhero,” written for her youngest son during his battle with leukemia, which reached #8 on iTunes. And we are so excited for America to get to know the dazzling Niki Metcalf! This tour is in great hands.
