I BURIED MY WIFE 20 YEARS AGO — YESTERDAY, SHE LITERALLY SAVED ME FROM A STROKE.
My wife's crashed car was found at the edge of a forest, but there was no trace of Taylor. That broke me. Time passed, and despite all efforts by the police and volunteers, no one could find her. The only theory was that wild animals might have taken her, as the car wasn't discovered until the second day.
Her mom insisted on organizing a funeral to find closure, and we reluctantly did it.
But a few days ago, I went out for coffee when I suddenly felt something was wrong. I could barely move my right side and collapsed, spilling my coffee. As I lay there, someone grabbed my shoulders and began asking me to pronounce a word and lift my hand.
Then, as the sharpness in my eyes cleared, I saw her face — and the birthmark on the left side of her forehead. But...HOW?!

LITTLE GIRL FROM ACROSS THE STREET WAVED AT ME EVERY DAY AND NIGHT – ONE DAY, I WENT TO INSPECT HER HOUSE
"Sandy, remember I told you about the strange little girl yesterday? Look, she's at that window!" I pointed across the street.
"I remember. Is she looking at you again?" asked my wife.
"Yeah, it's kind of weird."
"Well, maybe she's bored and just waving her arms?"
"It's like she's calling me."
"I can imagine. You'll go up to her and say she called you. What would her parents think?" Sandy replied.
"Yeah, I guess I'm just making up nonsense." I quickly pulled the curtain shut, unease settling in my stomach.
That night, I had terrible dreams of the girl's house and shadows whispering, and I woke up in a cold sweat. Morning came, and I felt exhausted. As I finished my tea, I glanced at the window again.

One day, I returned home earlier than usual, and as I walked through the front door, I found James in the living room with Tessa. They looked startled when I entered, and I immediately sensed something off in the air.
"Why are you home so early?" I asked with unease settling in my stomach.
"Oh, I had a meeting that got canceled," he stammered, a little too quickly and then threw a glimpse at Tessa. I wanted to believe him, but his answer felt suspicious.
That evening, after dinner, James went outside to the garden. While he was out, Oliver approached me, looking up with his big, expressive eyes. He held his palm out, and when I looked closely, I saw the words written there: "DADDY LIES!"

I've always loved Thanksgiving. For me, it was a family holiday. Year after year, we'd gather together, cook a turkey, and laugh so much. I remember those moments like they were yesterday. But three years ago, my mom left us. No explanation, no goodbyes — she just closed the door and was gone. Since then, nothing has been the same, and I haven't seen her since. We learned to live as three: my dad, sister, and me. Dad did everything he could, but the holiday spirit never really returned.
This year, she invited us to spend Thanksgiving together for the first time since she left. Honestly, it felt like a knife to the heart. To sit there and watch her so happy without us?
