The East Brooklyn Leader is a 501c3 non profit social service agency who mission and purpose its to assist in getting the East Brooklyn communities (Brownsville, East New York, Bushwick, Bedford Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, and Canarsie) community members, back on their feet, informed and empowered with news, information, and resources pertaining to the empowerment & betterment of the
East Brooklyn communities. Founder Malcolm I. McDaniel after working as a casemanager/housing specialist in a family shelter business for over 10+ years, came to East Brooklyn (at the time only Brownsville & East New York was considered East Brooklyn) , and seen the lack of services, lack of communication/many public meeting were poorly attended, many community areas dilapidated, and the public media weren't broadcasting positive news about the communities, at any angle. The truth geographically from Bushwick to Canarsie from Nostrand Avenue to the conduit which acknowledge and introduced as the real East Brooklyn territory, seemed to be literally on it own, as if in need of leadership. Thus The East Brooklyn Leader was created. Excerpts from The East Brooklyn Leader incorporation filings:
