https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jakebrown1/dear-dancefloor-do-you-want-more Modern house music has hit a plateau. Everything That Moves (ETM) Records was established to push it beyond. Founded in 2021 by New York’s own Jake Brown, ETM Records derives its name from a 2009 interview with Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso at Pacha Ibiza. “Tell us a bit about your musical style. What can we expect from an
Axwell & Ingrosso set?” the interviewee poses. Axwell’s answer is as pithy as anyone familiar with the Swede would expect: “everything that moves.”
Taking aim at dance floors that have since been saturated with the tech house and commercial house sounds that seem always to be on repeat these days, Brown’s label seeks to restore the sexy flare that house music had many moons ago, to—in short— make what once moved move again, in a fresh yet familiar fashion. Rewind years prior to 2008-2010, and house had a bounce, a bold allure, and a more detailed percussive and synth-based approach than the house records popularized in today’s electronic release ring. ETM is on a mission to cultivate that sound again and anew, with reinvigorated energy and an attention to original sound design. Don’t call it a comeback—call it a takeover.
