Russian forces have unleashed an attack of Ukraine on the orders of Vladimir Putin, who announced a “special military operation” at dawn, amid warnings from world leaders that it could spark the biggest war in Europe since 1945.

Within minutes of Putin’s short televised address, at about 5am Ukrainian time, explosions were heard near major Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv.

The scope of the Russian attack appears to be massive. Ukraine’s interior ministry reported that the country was under attack from cruise and ballistic missiles, with Russia appearing to target infrastructure near major cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Dnipro.

“To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside: if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history. All relevant decisions have been taken. I hope you hear me,” he said.

The Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has broken his silence after losing his ward in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary to Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

The Nation reports Aregbesola, was absent at his Ifofin Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government for the exercise on Saturday.

Oyetola won in Aregbesola’s ward with 309 votes against 146 recorded for Moshood Adeoti, the candidate anointed by the Minister.


In a statement by his media’s aide, Sola Fasure, Aregbesola claimed results of the governorship primary were “farcically counted in favour of the Governor.”

He said: “On behalf of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, I will like to thank you most sincerely for heeding the call earlier this morning to participate in our party’s governorship primary and conduct yourselves most peacefully. You adopted a non-violent posture, even in the face of sore provocation.

Junior Wife Stabs Senior Wife To Death In Ondo Over S3x Turn With Their Husband | Leo_pundit

A 25-year-old woman Rebecca Nicodemus has stabbed her senior rival to death few minutes after sleeping with their husband.

Rebecca was said to have been jealous that her husband left her in bed during an ongoing s3x session to make love to the senior wife identified as Precious.

It was gathered that both women lived in a room and a parlour apartment with their husband.

A fracas was said to have ensued between them when late Precious stepped out of the room where she slept with their husband.

The incident occurred on February 4 around 5.00am at Idogun Camp via Ode-Irele in Ondo State.

Rebecca was subsequently arrested and arraigned on a one count charge of murder before an Akure Magistrates’ Court.

In a Police First Information Report where the suspect narrated what transpired, she said it was not her intention to kill the senior wife.

According to her: “I came to Ondo State in January, 2022 and we were leaving in the same house. I am a farmer and we have been relating together in harmony alongside the deceased.

“On that fateful day, my husband was earlier with me in the living room but had to excuse himself on a pretext that we were not free to continue with our love making.

“I was waiting for my husband when I discovered he was making love to the senior wife inside the bedroom.

“I also heard them making derogatory remarks about me. So, I waited in the sitting room for my rival to come out from the room and when she came out , I challenged her over her unkind words.

“Rather than the deceased to be apologetic, she suddenly grabbed my clothes which made me angry

“So, I took a knife on the table in our sitting room and stabbed her at the back with the knife.

“It was not my intention to kill her, I over reacted in anger”.

Police Prosecutor, Obadasa Ajiboye, informed the court that the defendant stabbed her with a knife at her left back side which resulted to her death.

He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Plea of the defendant was not taken but the prosecution made an oral application to remand the defendant in prison custody pending the outcome of advice from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, ordered the remand Rebecca to police custody and adjourned the case to February 22, 2022 for ruling on the remand application.

SPIRITUAL Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, AMEN, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka has debunked recent rumour that he was kidnapped.
The fiery Priest in a statement dismissed the rumour as unfounded, saying, "Nobody Kidnapped me".

He said he was neither Kidnapped nor invited by the Department of State Service, DSS.

He said, “The trending rumour that I am kidnapped is not true. No DSS Person invited me. Right now, by the special grace of God, I am peacefully, Joyfully, amicably and gracefully praying in the Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria arena," Mbaka said.

IGBO: Oxford University Gets First Igbo Language Lecturer

Emmanuel Ikechukwu Umeonyihirioha has become the first Igbo language lecturer at Oxford University.

He made the announcement on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

He said, "It is official that I am the first official Igbo Language lecturer at the number one university in the world, the University of Oxford.

"Our induction happened today by Marion Sadoux, Head of Modern Language Programmes, University of Oxford Language Centre.

"This became possible in account of the James Currey Society. This is the first time the Igbo language will be taught at the university. History has been made."

IGP ORDERS POSTING OF CP IDRISU DAUDA DABBAN AS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE KATSINA STATE

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc, has ordered the posting of CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, psc (+), fdc, mnim, to Kastina State Command as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) in-charge of the State.

The posting follows the elevation of the erstwhile Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Command, AIG Buba Sanusi, to the next rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

The new Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1990. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has attended several leadership and strategic courses within and outside Nigeria. He has equally served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities within the Force, some of which include DCP Operations in Delta and Enugu State Commands, DC SCID and subsequently Commissioner of Police in Kogi State Command. Until his recent posting, he was the CP Communications, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The IGP, while reiterating the commitment of the Police leadership in containing prevailing and emerging crime trends in the State, charges the new Commissioner of Police to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor in ensuring increased public safety and security of lives and property in Katsina State. He further calls on the Government and good people of Katsina State to give the new Police Chief maximum support in his new role.
