In his insightful article, Seriously Celebrating Kwanzaa: A Time of Remembrance, Reflection, and Recommitment, Dr. Karenga inspires us to look beyond festivities and delve into the heart of what Kwanzaa truly represents: a structured opportunity to engage with the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles) in ways that empower individuals and uplift communities.

Dr. Karenga’s reflections remind us that is not merely a moment in the calendar but a blueprint for and personal transformation. It invites us to integrate these into our daily lives, ensuring that the work of unity, purpose, and creativity continues long after the candles are extinguished.

At Universal Write Publications, we are proud to champion this vision through the power of scholarship. Our publications echo the values of Kwanzaa, offering platforms for voices that challenge, uplift, and inspire.

As we embark on this year’s celebration, let us embrace Kwanzaa as an opportunity to reshape the world we inhabit. Engage deeply with the principles. Read Dr. Karenga’s thought-provoking article here. Share it. Discuss it. Let it spark ideas that lead to actions.

From Dr. Malenga Karenga for UWP: This year’s annual Kwanzaa theme is “Celebrating Kwanzaa in Difficult and Demanding Times: Lifting up the Light that Lasts”. It speaks to the pervasive sense that we are moving into such times, and we will need to draw on our greatest internal and collective strengths to weather the cold and dark winter promised by those coming to power in this country and the world. But the sacred teachings of our ancestors in the Husia tell us that in the midst of the thickest darkness we must remember that we are to “drive away darkness so that light can be lifted up”, and that to ground and sustain us in this righteous struggle, we are given “that which endures in the midst of that which is overthrown”. Blavity The Root

Again, this year as we come together in remembrance, reflection and recommitment during Kwanzaa, we greet you saying “Heri za Kwanzaa. Happy Kwanzaa”. Also, we send greetings of celebration, solidarity and continuing struggle to Africans everywhere throughout the world African community.

Turn the page this Kwanzaa—where Black scholarship lights the way to unity and purpose!

As the candles of Kwanzaa glow, illuminating the path of hope, unity, and cultural resilience, Universal Write Publications honors the profound legacy of Black authors who embody the transformative principles of Nguzo Saba. From the wisdom of our ancestors to the visionary voices shaping today’s narratives, these works inspire reflection, bold action, and the building of bridges that unite us in purpose and progress.

We celebrate our esteemed board member, scholar, and founder, Dr. Maulana Karenga, whose leadership calls us to live these principles daily. Each title in our collection represents these principles in action, contributing to a rich tapestry of thought that bridges the past, empowers the present, and illuminates the future. Through the power of Black scholarship, we connect, create, and reaffirm the brilliance of our shared identity, demonstrating through the celebration of our collective heritage, in the reclamation of our narratives, in our responsibility to uplift future generations, and in the building of systems that sustain our communities. These principles are embodied in every word and idea that challenges boundaries, like the intentional journeys of purpose in , the innovative spirit of , and the steadfast belief in a brighter future through .

This Kwanzaa, we invite you to reflect, act, and unite with us in celebrating the transformative power of knowledge, creativity, and cultural pride, as we build a collective legacy grounded in integrity, hope, and the strength of community.
