Remember the role they inherited and played during and after the Civil War and their being the backbone and muscle behind America's Industrial Revolution
and for their incredible contributions to literature and capturing the human spirit in their novels and poetry, dance and song,
and being the inspiration for so many movies that shared their indomitable spirit, strong character, values and work ethic that played such a huge role in some of the greatest eras in American history. Here's to the Irish in us all !!

Putting our ten years of production experience at CBS News
and ten years in the Hollywood Feature Film producrtion industry to good use,
we're producing a documentary about Port Washington itself,
from the early founding days of America, right through to today
and most importantly, we're doing an ongoing segment on
"The Great Families of Port Washington"
and "The Family Owned Businesses of Port Washington".

If your family goes back multiple generations, or if you know somneone's who does, that's our first family focus , then there are the families that have made a significant contribution to the town, either in public service or personal contributions,
and then there are the Family Owned Businesses of Port Washington.

One of our favorite things to cover, are the acts of the brave, the relentless, the good deed doers, the people who've dedicated their lives to a mission to make the world a better place. Here's one of our favorites . Jacqueline Franchetti and her Kyra's Champions who've been fighting to get legislation passed withy a law called Kyra's law. Here's the story.

A very special event is taking place down at Blumenfeld Family Park today at 220 Main Street, here in Port Washington. 750 Pin Wheels are being planted by Kyra’s Champions in a field in the park to raise awareness for Kyra’s Law that’s been created by Kyra’s mother, Jacqueline Franchetti and being presented for passage into law. The proposed legislation aims to provide better protection for Children in distressed family environments. 745 children have died as a result of an abusive parent in a divorce or stressed family situation where the court system failed to provide safeguards to protect the child or listen to the warnings about the abusive parent . Come down and learn more, and help support a very worthy cause .

Meet The Candidates. Disclaimer: The participants all discussed the wearing of masks before the interview. We all recommend wearing them. Since we have all tested negative and been vaccinated we chose to do the interview without the masks, but do wear them elsewhere . Here are two members of a three member team of parents looking to play their part in the governance of Port Washington's School system by running to be on the School Board . Let's hear from Candidates Adam Smith and Adam Block. Adam Smith does financial planning for a real estate investment Board of Trustees while working in Emergency Preparedness for religious and preschool institutions. He also volunteers on an Ambulance Corp in Bedford Stuyvesant along with Coaching Youth Basketball and raising three boys with this wife Jenny Adam Block, a Public Health Professional was born and raised and educated in Port Washington, as was his wife Lauren who's now a Physician at Northwell. Together they not only raise a set of Boy-Girl twins with another son in kindergarten and two dogs named Zoe and Cookie, they write children's books together, educating kids about Covid. #PortWashington #PortWashingtonSchoolDistrict #PortStrong
