The Kosciuszko Foundation Wieniawski Violin Competition was established in 1969 to encourage young violinists to study the repertoire of Polish composers and to honor Poland’s legendary violinist and composer Henryk Wieniawski.

FINAL REMINDER! There are just a few days left to apply for the KF 2026 Wieniawski Violin Competition, taking place on November 7-8, 2026, at the KF House in NYC.

The Competition is open to violinists of all nationalities, ages 16-30, who are US citizens, permanent residents, or holders of a valid US visa.

More than $20,000 in cash prizes and performance awards will be presented.

The Competition will be held under the artistic direction of Adrian Sylveen, who will also serve on the jury alongside Philip Setzer, founding member of the Grammy Award–winning Emerson String Quartet and acclaimed violinist Joanna Kurkowicz. The Final Round will feature a nine-time Grammy Award winner as Honorary Juror.

Meet Adrian Sylveen, who serves as the Competition's Artistic Director and Jury member. Adrian Sylveen is an award-winning conductor and artistic director with an international career spanning the United States and Europe. Founder of the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the Greve Opera Academy & Chamber Music Festival, he has led performances in more than a dozen countries and collaborated with renowned orchestras, opera companies, and artists worldwide. A distinguished educator and recipient of numerous honors, he brings decades of artistic leadership and international experience to the jury of the 2026 KF Wieniawski Competition.

Meet violinist Philip Setzer, a founding member of the Emerson String Quartet, who joins the jury of the KF Wieniawski Competition. A prizewinner at the Queen Elisabeth International Competition, he has performed with leading orchestras worldwide and is internationally recognized as a distinguished chamber musician, educator, and Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at SUNY Stony Brook. His career spans acclaimed performances, masterclasses, premieres of new works, and groundbreaking artistic collaborations.

We are honored to welcome Eugene Drucker as an Honorary Jury member of the KF Wieniawski Violin Competition.
A founding member of the legendary Emerson String Quartet, Drucker is a nine-time Grammy and three-time Gramophone Award winner. A graduate of Columbia University and The Juilliard School, he was a prizewinner at the Montreal Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras across North America, Europe, and Israel. An acclaimed violinist, chamber musician, composer, author, and educator, Eugene Drucker brings a lifetime of artistry and insight to the Competition’s Honorary Jury.

🎻 Meet Our Jury: Joanna Kurkowicz
Praised by Gramophone for her "disciplined virtuosity," Joanna Kurkowicz is an internationally acclaimed violinist, concertmaster, chamber musician, and educator. A prizewinner of the Henryk Wieniawski and Tadeusz Wroński International Violin Competitions, she has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras across Europe, the United States, and New Zealand.
Former concertmaster of the Boston Philharmonic for 25 years, she is Artist in Residence at Williams College and serves on the faculty of Tufts University. A passionate advocate for contemporary music and an acclaimed recording artist, her recordings of Grażyna Bacewicz's violin concertos have earned international recognition, including the prestigious Diapason d'Or.
Born in Lublin, Poland, Joanna Kurkowicz is also a dedicated teacher who regularly gives masterclasses and serves on international competition juries.

We are delighted to announce that the 2026 Kosciuszko Foundation Wieniawski Violin Competition is now open for applications! The Competition will be held on November 7-8, 2026, at the Foundation's House in NYC. Applications are accepted through June 1.

About the Competition
The Kosciuszko Foundation Wieniawski Violin Competition was established in 1969 to provide exceptional young musicians with a platform to advance their artistic careers, expand their musical horizons, and deepen their engagement with the repertoire of Polish composers. It celebrates the extraordinary artistry of Henryk Wieniawski — whose virtuosic performances and compositions have inspired generations of violinists worldwide.

The 2026 Competition will be held under the artistic direction of Adrian Sylveen, an internationally active conductor and violinist, who will also serve on the jury. He will be joined by Philip Setzer, founding member of the Grammy Award–winning Emerson String Quartet and a leading figure in chamber music performance and education, and Joanna Kurkowicz, an acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster known for her international career and recordings.

Who Can Apply: Violinists of all nationalities/ Ages 16–30; U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or individuals on valid U.S. visas. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding musicianship and a passion for performance and artistic growth
