MY MOM AND MIL BURNED DOWN MY KITCHEN, RUINED THANKSGIVING, AND SENT ME TO THE HOSPITAL
Michael and I were getting ready for our baby girl to arrive, and I was in my last month of pregnancy. It would've been a wonderful time if it weren't for my mom and MIL.
I mean, I love my MIL, and she loves me too. And sure, I love my mom to pieces. But put these two in the same room? It's chaos! They've hated each other since day one. I thought my pregnancy might get them to call a truce, but nope. The breaking point came I CAME HOME TO FIND MY SON'S NEW GIRLFRIEND COOKING IN MY KITCHEN โ I SHOCKINGLY RECOGNIZED HER.
It was a hard day at my new job, but I was happy I finally found one after I had an awful interview in a new restaurant for the role of chef. The spot was eventually taken by a young sassy girl, who arrogantly told me I was TOO OLD for them and not slim enough to represent their place.
So I returned home thinking about what I was going to cook that day and almost dropped my bag when I saw THAT girl in my kitchen, still grinning at me.
Son: Mom, this is Isabel, my girlfriend!
I was trying to digest it when she jumped at me and hugged me.
HER: It's SO nice to meet you, Mrs. Rodgers! (and then, whispering in my ear) Let's forget what happened last month.
ME: (I smirked and hugged her tighter) Sure, dear!
At that moment, I was already building a plan for how to teach her a lesson of respect and โฌ๏ธ
