Saints Commit to Olave, Decline Penning's Option Amid Roster Evaluations!

In a recent pre-draft press conference, New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis announced that the team will pick up the fifth-year option for wide receiver Chris Olave but will decline the option for offensive tackle Trevor Penning.

Olave, who was drafted 11th overall in 2022, has become a major piece of the Saints' offense. Even though he missed nine games during the 2024 season due to concussions, he’s posted 191 receptions for 2,565 yards and 10 touchdowns in 39 games. The fifth-year option locks him in through the 2026 season and is valued at around $15.49 million.

Meanwhile, Penning—taken 19th overall in the same draft—has had a more inconsistent path. He started all 17 games in 2024 but concerns about his development and readiness have lingered. By turning down his $16.69 million option, the Saints are allowing Penning to play out the final year of his rookie contract in 2025, which becomes a critical year for him to prove his worth.

Loomis made it clear that not picking up Penning's option doesn’t mean the team has given up on him, saying, "That doesn't mean we don't love Trevor and expect him to be part of the team going forward." It seems the Saints are keeping their options open, possibly looking to add depth to the offensive line during the upcoming draft.

Loomis also provided an update on quarterback Derek Carr, who’s been absent from team activities since suffering a shoulder injury on April 11. The team is still waiting for more information on his condition before giving any timeline on his return.

All of these decisions reflect the Saints’ focus on balancing immediate competitiveness with long-term roster flexibility as they head into the 2025 NFL Draft.

Weighing the Risks: Should the Saints Extend Alontae Taylor's Contract?

Alontae Taylor's 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints had flashes of greatness but also showed areas that need improvement, which makes the idea of giving him a contract extension a tricky decision.

A Season of Highs and Lows

Taylor came out swinging in the season opener with three sacks against the Carolina Panthers. That performance set a new franchise record for a defensive back and tied the NFL record for most sacks by a corner in a single game. Over the season, he racked up career-best numbers: 89 tackles, 16 pass breakups (tied for fifth-most in the league), and four sacks.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Taylor had some shaky outings, especially in Week 16 versus the Rams, where he gave up big plays and ended up getting benched. To his credit, he bounced back the next week with his first career interception against the Bucs.

Versatility and Adaptability

One thing that works in Taylor’s favor is his flexibility. He started the season as a slot corner but moved to the outside after Marshon Lattimore was traded. Taylor admitted he feels more natural playing outside, and his comfort there was clear in his play.

Should the Saints Extend Him?

Despite his upside, the Saints have to be cautious. There’s one year left on his rookie deal, so there's still time to evaluate if he can bring consistent production. Locking him in early could pay off if he keeps developing—but if his inconsistencies linger, it could be a risky investment.

In the end, it’s a classic high-risk, high-reward situation. Taylor has the tools to be a top-tier corner, but the Saints need to be sure he can put it all together before offering a long-term deal.

Saints Eye Michigan's Will Johnson as Lattimore's Successor!

The New Orleans Saints are reportedly exploring a smart move in the upcoming NFL Draft to help fill a major hole in their defense. After trading away star cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders, the Saints are in search of a strong replacement. One possible solution being floated around is a draft day trade with the San Francisco 49ers. The deal would have New Orleans trading their No. 9 overall pick for the 49ers’ No. 11 pick and an extra mid-round pick at No. 113, putting them in prime position to draft Michigan’s standout cornerback, Will Johnson.

Will Johnson has made a name for himself as one of the best corners in college football, racking up nine interceptions while playing for the Michigan Wolverines. His blend of size, speed, and ball-hawking ability makes him a great fit for a Saints defense that needs a new face in the secondary. Not only would the Saints land a top-tier talent, but they’d also gain more draft flexibility by picking up an extra selection in the deal.

This move shows the Saints are serious about building up their defense for the long haul. With Lattimore gone and other areas of the team needing depth, a player like Johnson could immediately step into a starting role and bring a spark to the back end of the defense. If the Saints pull this off, it could be one of the savvier moves of this year’s draft.

Saints May Pass on Drafting Quarterback at No. 9, Banking on Spencer Rattler's Potential!

With the NFL Draft approaching and the Saints holding the No. 9 pick, many fans are wondering if the team will use that selection on a quarterback. However, insider reports suggest it's unlikely. Despite some questions surrounding Derek Carr’s health and future, the organization appears to be comfortable rolling with second-year QB Spencer Rattler for now.

Rattler was a fifth-round pick last year and got valuable starting experience when Carr was injured. He started six games, finishing the season with over 1,300 passing yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. While his numbers weren’t elite, the Saints reportedly see potential in his growth. The front office believes with proper development, he could become a reliable starter, especially under the guidance of new head coach Kellen Moore.

The Saints also have other areas on the roster that need improvement, along with a few challenging contracts to work around. Rather than reaching for a quarterback early in the draft, the team could focus on building up their depth elsewhere and give Rattler a real shot at leading the offense. It’s a gamble—but one they might be willing to take.

Saints Legend Deuce McAllister Advises Against Drafting Ashton Jeanty at No. 9

Former New Orleans Saints running back and current team radio analyst Deuce McAllister recently shared his thoughts on the team potentially drafting Boise State star Ashton Jeanty with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While he respects Jeanty’s game, McAllister doesn’t believe the Saints should spend such a high pick on a running back.

Jeanty had a monster 2024 season, racking up over 2,600 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. His performance made him a Heisman Trophy finalist and one of the top running back prospects in the draft. He’s caught the attention of several teams, including the Raiders, Bears, and Saints.

The Saints even sent running backs coach Joel Thomas to Boise State’s Pro Day to get a closer look at Jeanty, which shows they're doing their homework. But in McAllister’s eyes, there are bigger priorities. He feels the team would be better served using that first-round pick to upgrade the offensive line or bolster the defense.

Mock drafts have also pointed to players like Georgia’s Jalon Walker or LSU’s Will Campbell as more logical picks for New Orleans. Both will help patch up key areas the team needs to address if they want to be more competitive this season.

Jeanty is undeniably talented, but McAllister’s take highlights the idea that it might be wiser to build in the trenches or on defense before adding another running back.

"Saints’ Perfect Draft Plan: Building the Future, One Pick at a Time"

As the 2025 NFL Draft nears, the New Orleans Saints have a chance to reshape their roster and earn high marks with a smart strategy. According to ESPN analysts Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates, there’s a clear path the Saints can take to pull off an impressive draft.

1st Round, Pick 9 – Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

With Derek Carr’s future uncertain due to lingering shoulder issues, New Orleans could be eyeing a quarterback of the future. Shedeur Sanders, son of Deion Sanders, has shown poise, accuracy, and leadership under pressure. His playing style could mesh well with new head coach Kellen Moore’s offensive vision.

2nd Round, Pick 40 – Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State

The Saints traded Marshon Lattimore, leaving a hole in the secondary. Thomas is a long, athletic corner who didn’t allow a single touchdown last season and has 19 pass breakups over his college career. His presence would immediately strengthen the back end of the defense.

3rd Round, Pick 71 – Jordan Burch, EDGE, Oregon

New Orleans needs to inject youth into its defensive line, and Burch fits that mold. He had a breakout season at Oregon with 8.5 sacks, bringing power and speed off the edge that could boost the team’s pass rush rotation.

3rd Round, Pick 93 – Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss

Injuries to top receivers have left the Saints needing more reliable targets. Tre Harris, a big 6’3” receiver, has the size and playmaking ability to become a go-to weapon—especially helpful if they’re starting a young QB like Sanders.

If the Saints stick to a plan like this, they’ll address key needs on both sides of the ball and set themselves up nicely for the future. It’s not just about fixing today—it’s about building for what’s next.

🔥 Marvel Rivals Cracks Down: Smurfing is Now Reportable AND Bannable! 🔥

Yo, it’s official — Marvel Rivals just dropped a game-changing update that’s gonna make life a whole lot better for real players grinding their way up the ladder.

Smurfing? Done. Finished. Over.
You know the deal — high-ranked players making alt accounts just to stomp on new or lower-tier players. It’s been running rampant since the closed alpha, and honestly? It’s been killing the fun for casuals and competitors alike.

But now? The devs have heard the community loud and clear. In the latest patch, they’ve added a full-on reporting system just for smurfs — and they’re not just taking notes, they’re bringing the ban hammer.

That’s right — smurfing is now a bannable offense.
Get caught doing it, and you’re out. Whether you're testing your main on a second account or trying to farm clips on noobs, the system’s watching, and players can now flag that shady behavior directly.

This is a huge W for matchmaking balance, especially for those of us who’ve been grinding ranked legit. No more unfair stomps. No more fake low-ELO gods ruining games.

It’s one step closer to making Marvel Rivals a top-tier competitive shooter that actually respects its player base. Shoutout to the devs for listening and taking action.

So, if you’re a true competitor, this is your time to shine.

And if you’ve been smurfing? Better stay off that alt… the system’s coming for you. 👀💀

"Thank You, Ryan Ramczyk: A True Saint Through and Through"

Today marks the end of an incredible era in New Orleans. Ryan Ramczyk, our rock on the offensive line and a 3-time All-Pro, has officially announced his retirement from the NFL.

From the moment he stepped onto the field in the Black and Gold, Ramczyk was nothing short of dominant. Drafted in the first round in 2017, he quickly became one of the league’s top offensive tackles. Game after game, season after season, he protected our quarterbacks, opened lanes for our running backs, and brought a toughness and consistency that Saints fans came to count on.

As a fan of this team, it’s impossible not to feel thankful for everything Ryan gave us. He was a true professional—quiet, humble, but absolutely relentless on the field. Whether it was Drew Brees or Alvin Kamara making the plays, it often started with Ramczyk doing the dirty work in the trenches.

Injuries may have caught up with him toward the end, but nothing can take away from the impact he had on this franchise. Ramczyk helped anchor one of the best offensive lines in football for years, and his presence was a major part of the Saints' success during his time in New Orleans.

So, from the bottom of my heart as a lifelong Saints fan: thank you, Ryan Ramczyk. Thank you for your dedication, your toughness, and for being a cornerstone of this team. You'll always be remembered as one of the greats to wear the Fleur-de-lis.

Wishing you nothing but the best in retirement. Once a Saint, always a Saint. ⚜️

Chris Olave Shows Off New Muscle at Saints OTAs!

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is turning heads at OTAs this offseason—not for his route running or speed, but for the noticeable muscle he's packed on. Photos coming out of the team’s voluntary workouts show Olave looking much stronger than he has in past seasons, a clear sign that he's been putting in serious work during the offseason.

Olave has dealt with several head injuries in his short career, including a concussion last season that limited him to just eight games. Despite some talk about him possibly stepping away from the game for his long-term health, Olave is fully locked in. It looks like he’s focused on building up his body to help stay healthy and take hits better going forward.

Before his 2024 season was cut short, Olave totaled 32 catches, 400 yards, and a touchdown. Now heading into the final year of his rookie deal, the Saints have to decide if they’ll pick up his fifth-year option. With veteran quarterback Derek Carr possibly missing significant time this season, Olave could play a bigger role, especially if a younger QB takes over.

Fans are hyped about his new look, though some wonder if the added bulk might affect his speed and quickness. Still, the added strength could help him be more durable and effective going into a critical year.

4 Draft Prospects the Saints Must Avoid at All Costs in 2025!

The New Orleans Saints have done a decent job navigating yet another offseason while being stuck in salary cap chaos. Somehow, they’ve still managed to bring back key players like edge rusher Chase Young and tight end Juwan Johnson. On top of that, they picked up defensive backs Justin Reid and Isaac Yiadom and even reunited with wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Now, with the 2025 NFL Draft right around the corner and the No. 9 pick in hand, New Orleans has a chance to add some serious talent to the roster.

That said, not every big name or hyped-up prospect is a perfect fit. Here are four players the Saints should probably pass on when they’re on the clock:

1. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

No doubt, Jeanty is a special talent—probably the top running back in this draft class. But even with his upside, using a top 10 pick on a running back just doesn’t make sense for the Saints right now.

Alvin Kamara might not be in his prime anymore, but he’s still got enough juice to carry the load for another season. Plus, this year’s draft is loaded with running back depth, meaning the Saints can find solid value later in the draft. They’ve got bigger needs to fill early on, and taking an RB this high just isn’t smart roster-building.

2. Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia

Williams is an interesting prospect with SEC experience and the physical tools to be a difference-maker on the edge. But the tape tells a different story.

Despite his size and potential, Williams never really dominated in college. He topped out at five sacks in a season and had trouble getting past stronger offensive linemen. The Saints do need help with their pass rush, but they need someone who can contribute right away—not a project. At No. 9, they need to be thinking impact, not upside.

3. Shemar Stewart, EDGE, Texas A&M

Another edge rusher with serious athletic ability, Stewart looks the part but just didn’t produce in college. In three seasons at Texas A&M, he only managed 4.5 sacks total.

He’s got boom-or-bust written all over him, and while that might be a gamble some teams are willing to take, the Saints can’t afford that kind of risk with a top 10 pick. His success will depend heavily on the team that drafts him, and New Orleans shouldn’t roll the dice here.

4. Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss

With Derek Carr’s health uncertain, the Saints might feel pressure to grab a quarterback. Jaxson Dart is a name that’s been flying up draft boards lately, thanks to his strong college numbers and standout Senior Bowl showing.

But let’s pump the brakes. Dart has the intangibles—toughness, leadership, and a big arm—but there are major questions about whether he can run an NFL offense. The Saints aren’t in a position to carry a young QB through growing pains, especially one that might not be ready out the gate. Reaching for Dart could set the team back even further.

Final Thoughts

The Saints have a real opportunity to land a difference-maker with the ninth overall pick, but they’ve got to play it smart. These four players have talent, no doubt—but they come with too many question marks. New Orleans needs to prioritize proven production and immediate impact over potential alone if they want to turn things around in 2025.

Sony Hikes PS5 Digital Edition Prices Mid-Generation Due to Economic Pressures

Sony has just raised the price of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in several regions, including Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The company says the decision is due to ongoing economic challenges like inflation and fluctuating exchange rates.

In Europe, the price has jumped to €499.99 from €449.99. Over in the UK, it's gone up to £429.99, a £40 increase. Australia now sees the PS5 Digital Edition priced at AUD 749.95, which is about a 10% hike.

This is actually the second time Sony has raised the price of the PS5 Digital Edition since its launch in November 2020. At launch, it was €399.99 in Europe and £359.99 in the UK. Interestingly, the standard PS5 with a disc drive and the upcoming PS5 Pro haven’t been affected by this price change. To balance things out a bit, Sony did drop the price of the external disc drive accessory in the UK—from £99.99 to £69.99.

The move comes during a time of global economic uncertainty, and part of the pressure is coming from international trade tensions, including new tariffs from the U.S. on Chinese imports that impact electronics manufacturers like Sony. Although the U.S. hasn’t seen a price hike just yet, experts believe it could happen soon if import costs continue to rise.

Gamers haven’t been too happy about the news. Many are frustrated that prices are going up years after the console’s release and are starting to feel like gaming is becoming more of a luxury than an accessible hobby.

Saints at a Crossroads: Derek Carr's Injury Forces Quarterback Rethink!

When Kellen Moore took over as the Saints’ new head coach back in February, he already knew the quarterback room would need some attention. But things got even more complicated after recent reports suggested that Derek Carr might miss the entire 2025 season due to a shoulder injury.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Carr is weighing whether to get surgery on that shoulder — a decision that could sideline him for the year. Saints GM Mickey Loomis had previously hinted at sticking with Carr during the NFL Combine, but now the front office is exploring other options heading into the draft.

If Carr can’t go, let’s take a look at the quarterbacks who could end up leading the Saints next season.

Cam Ward (Miami)

Ward already has some ties to New Orleans — he visited the city in March to accept the Manning Award and even admitted he’d love the chance to play for the Saints. “I loved watching Drew Brees and Colston back in the day,” he said at the Superdome.

Problem is, Ward’s stock has skyrocketed, and he’s now expected to be the first QB off the board — possibly even going No. 1 overall to the Titans. If the Saints really want him, they’d have to trade up from their current spot at No. 9, which won’t be cheap.

Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)

Deion Sanders’ son might be the best fit at No. 9 — and based on what insiders like Adam Schefter are saying, there's a growing chance Shedeur slides to the Saints. Schefter recently ruled out earlier projections that had Sanders going in the top three picks, putting New Orleans and Pittsburgh as realistic landing spots.

Even though Sanders’ draft stock has dipped a bit, he’d still bring a whole lot of hype to a team that badly needs some spark with its fanbase. Whether or not he's high on the Saints’ draft board remains to be seen, but he’s definitely in play.

Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)

If the Saints don’t go with Sanders or Ward, Dart might be the next best draft-day option. He had a strong senior season, throwing for over 4,200 yards and 29 touchdowns while also showing off some dual-threat ability with over 1,500 rushing yards and 14 scores across his college career.

Still, most experts project Dart as a late first-round or early second-round pick, so grabbing him at No. 9 might be seen as a reach. He’s a fast riser, though — and someone to watch if the Saints trade back or grab a QB later in the draft.

Spencer Rattler (Current Saints QB)

Rattler is the only quarterback currently on the roster, and while his rookie season wasn’t great — he went 0-6 as a starter — he did show some flashes. In seven games, he threw for 1,317 yards with four touchdowns and five picks while completing 57 percent of his passes.

Coach Moore has been complimentary, calling Rattler “a really good player” and someone he’s excited to work with. But let’s be real — unless Rattler takes a big leap in the offseason, the Saints are likely bringing in someone new to lead the offense. He’s a solid backup right now, but probably not the long-term answer.

Bottom Line:

With Derek Carr’s status hanging in the balance, Kellen Moore and the Saints have some big decisions ahead — and with the No. 9 pick in a QB-heavy draft, they’ll have a chance to reset the future of the franchise under center.
