How Soon is Now?
2022 Call for Submissions! pass it around!
in this time like no other, when the concept of time feels increasingly fluid, I’ve been calling on the muses of my 1980s adolescence to help me make sense of it all, and then usually surrendering to the possibility that perhaps there is no making sense, not yet anyway, just opportunities for listening and staying present to ourselves and each other.
and on that note, I remain drawn to beauty and community, and am once again asking you to join me in making a calendar.
I strive to fill each page with words and images that will feed me throughout the year, and I am gratified that they seem to feed some of y'all, too.
the mama calendar is what it is because of your words, pictures, dreams, visions, rants, raves, recipes, recipes for revolution. send me your best stuff, by November 5, to the mama calendar: [email protected]
emailing in digital photos in the highest resolution you can get is the best choice. when in doubt, just send it! I'll see what I can do.
calendars will be available by December 5, in person for $12 a piece and via email & the US mail for $15 a piece, payable by check, cash, money order, venmo or paypal. advance orders are what make the calendar project possible. you can pre-order now by sending $15 via paypal to [email protected] or venmo to -Murphy. ask about wholesale pricing for orders of ten or more. keep your eyes peeled for in person event opportunities like the New Orleans Bookfair and related ziney events, yes, even in this age of pandemic.
check it out, I've been putting this thing together for TWENTY ONE years now! used to be I would do it over a series of late nights while my toddling kids slept. nowadays, I text those young folks for inspiration and beg them to run up the street to pick up chocolate covered espresso beans & corner store fried chicken to keep me going throughout production! we've all grown with the project, and there's still plenty of room for you to jump in.
