In 2015, archaeologists made an extraordinary discovery in the Champagne region of France—a lavishly furnished tomb belonging to a Celtic prince dating back to the 5th century BC. The exact identity of the prince remains unknown, as no inscriptions or written records were found to directly identify him. However, the wealth and grandeur of the burial suggest he held significant power and status.

This burial site, located in Lavau, held incredible artifacts that offered a rare glimpse into the wealth and power of the ancient Celtic elite. The prince was buried with a chariot, surrounded by treasures that included an intricately decorated bronze cauldron, Greek and Etruscan pottery, and a golden torc, one of the most iconic symbols of Celtic royalty. Among the remarkable finds was a unique 5-foot-wide bronze cauldron, adorned with the head of the Greek river god Achelous, featuring large, exaggerated horns. This cauldron, believed to have been imported from Greece or Etruria, likely served a ceremonial purpose for feasts or rituals involving the consumption of wine—a significant luxury among the Celts.

These artifacts suggest the Celts had far-reaching trade connections, even with Mediterranean cultures, highlighting their significance in early European history. The discovery of the tomb not only sheds light on the burial practices and craftsmanship of the time but also reinforces the Celtic tribes' sophisticated status during the Iron Age.

This isolated island is home to only 264 people.

Tristan da Cunha is part of an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean. The island is about 2,400 kilometers (1,500 miles) from the nearest human settlement, the island of Saint Helena. It is also roughly 2,800 kilometers (1,750 miles) from South Africa and over 3,200 kilometers (2,000 miles) from South America. Despite this extreme isolation, it is home to around 260-270 people, who mostly live in a small settlement called "Edinburgh of the Seven Seas."

The island is a British overseas territory, and its population descends from a few families that settled there in the 19th century. Life on Tristan da Cunha is centered around subsistence farming and fishing, with some limited trade and tourism. The islanders are known for their self-sufficiency, although they do rely on occasional supply ships and communication links with the outside world.

Tristan da Cunha is famous for its volcanic origin, with a large, central peak rising over 2,000 meters (6,700 feet) above sea level. Despite the beauty of the island, life there is challenging due to the remoteness, harsh weather, and limited infrastructure. The island has no airport, so the only way to reach it is by sea, which can take several days from the nearest port.

Did you know that planes don't fly in a straight line?

The shortest distance between two points is always a straight line, but only in Euclidean geometry.

What is this? It's a geometry that is usually taught in school, where figures are two-dimensional and presented on a flat surface like a sheet of paper.

In real life, on the surface of the Earth, the shortest distance traveled is a curve called a geodesic.

That's because (unfortunately for flat-earthers) our planet is not flat!

On the map, the cities of New York and Moscow were used as references.

This photo, taken in 2015 in Masai Mara Park, Kenya, is called Mud Monster. This is the effort of the famous photographer David Lloyd. This photo was awarded as the best mammal photograph in the European Photo Contest 2017. The queen of the African land is covered in mud after hunting and has eyes of fire. Such photography requires great skill, strong nerves, great imagination, and patience. This photo was captured in the light of the African plains and the rising sun, an invaluable gift for wildlife enthusiasts.

The Mauritanian iron ore train is one of the longest and heaviest trains in the world and the most unique and incredible railway journey one can take.
The train is up to 3 km (1.8 miles) in length, and travels on a single track of 704 kilometres (437 miles), with 200 – 300 freight carriages weighing up to a total of 84 tons each.
The sole purpose of the train is to export iron ore from the mining town of Zouerate to the Port of Nouadhibou via Choum in Mauritania, Northwest Africa.
But the state agency, Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière, allows locals and tourists to board the train and use it as a means of transportation between inland of the country and the coastline.
One cannot expect any levels of comfort one would find on other passenger trains around the world, though. This train has no ticket, no conductor, no dining cart, or any sort of announcement.
It is not bound to any timetable and may leave earlier or later than the usual departure time. This also means the arrival time is not fixed to a certain time and a single trip can take from 11 to 15 hours under the sun, at an average temperature of 40°C.

Interesting facts about chicken egg fertility that you may not know.

🪶 It is possible to have a rooster and a hen that are active but a hen can still lay eggs that are not fertile:
I know you may be wondering how, and here is the explanation.
Unlike other birds where you find partners, in chickens there is no courtship or romance. A rooster just forces himself on the hen. So what happens is when a rooster mates with a hen, his injected semen is stored in numerous s***m storage tubules (SSTs) located in the area where the hen’s uterus joins the va**na. But this only happens provided the hen likes the rooster. If she doesn’t, she can sq**rt out the semen to avoid hatching his offspring. Therefore a hen may still proceed to lay eggs that are not fertile despite even mating with a rooster every day.

🪶 Even if the hen approves the rooster, some eggs may still not be fertile:
Since the s***m is released shortly after an egg is laid, and each egg takes approximately 25 hours to develop, an egg produced on the day of mating will not be fertile.
An egg laid the next day may or may not be fertile, depending on the timing. An egg laid on the third day definitely should be fertile.
So as you can see your hen can still have the first two or three eggs that are not fertile despite the hen and a rooster having mated.

🪶 You don't need a rooster every day for the hen to continue laying fertile eggs:
The amount of time during which the hen will continue to lay fertile eggs depends on how much s***m fills the SSTs, which are capable of storing semen from multiple matings and multiple roosters.
Highly productive hens generally remain fertile longer than hens that lay at a slower rate. The average duration of fertility from a single mating is 10 to 14 days.
So it is possible that once your hen has mated with a rooster you can even take the rooster away and you can still have fertile eggs for the next 14 days.
