I did not expect all of this before winter! Our lowest temperature has been -9C 16F. You see spring onions or scallions, Swedes / rutabagas, lambs lettuce or corn salad, Claytonia/ winter purslane, and American land cress. Filmed Nicola Smith 7th February at Homeacres Uk
Itβs proving a difficult winter for storing vegetables, since the cold weather gave way to much warmer conditions. Nonetheless, you can see some nice examples of harvested vegetables in this uninsulated shed at Homeacres, where the no dig soil quality is helping storage potential because of healthy microbes in these plants. All of the stored vegetables are still alive and winter is their stage to be dormant before going to seed next year. The chicory is I show is 206TT, the Trevizo type which we harvested in December, and Fenice TT is the green, one with speckles of pink and yellow, while the pink larger chicory is Aquarello. The Chinese cabbage is Yuki and you can see that in the kimchi video I posted two weeks ago.
Filmed 4th January by Adam Wood @ads.wood Part 8
