Our final guest on the podcast is Brett Cassella. I had the pleasure of meeting Brett 7 years back at my first powerlifting meet. I was amazed at how strong of a bench presser he was. I always looked up to him as a lifter. It wasn’t until meeting up with him and hearing his story did I realize how difficult of a road it was for him dealing with a hidden disease all while still trying to compete as a powerlifter. He was diagnosed with Ulcer Colitits. It took over a year of being misdiagnosed and dealing with different levels of sickness al the the way to almost dying. In the process he lost over 100 pounds from being sick at one point to being able fight his way back to being able to bench press over 500 pounds post diagnosis. He is now back to living a normal life while closely monitoring this very unpredictable.

Even though she was small, she would later go onto achieve big goals. She went to college for an early childhood education degree. She worked in the education field until 2019 when the school she worked at closed. It gave her a second thought on her career choice. She decided she wanted to do something else. After talking to a few people she thought she would give public speaking a try. At first she was unsure but soon after, she realized she was born to be a motivational speaker.

Ben Huntzinger was involved in a wreck on April 25, 2009, that left him paralyzed from the chest down. While he was in physical therapy, he started to realize the wheel chair industry was missing an affordable off-road wheelchair. He wanted to be able to return to enjoying the outdoors without limitations of his wheelchair. He decided to modify his chair to make that possible. What started as a way for him to get back to doing what he loves, turned to something much bigger. It has now become his life passion to build affordable off-road wheelchairs. That is when Spartan Wheel Chariots was born. Listening to his story of where he started and how far he has come with this journey was so inspiring. Check it out on Wednesday, January 13th where you find your podcasts!

I'm sure like most people when a service dog walks past me a bunch of questions always come to mind. This week we got the opportunity to sit down with a service dog trainer and ask those questions. Kimberly Borg has ptsd and anxiety driven Tourettes. She became a service dog handler in 2012 and she was paired with her dog Lady. Kimberly worked with a trainer to train lady and in the process she discovered that she had a passion for working with dogs. She later went on to apprentice under the trainer to become a dog trainer herself. She started the dog training company Furever Pawsitive Change 4 years ago to follow her passion and to help people just like herself. The ugly truthings are not going to come easy for you. Especially if you are dealing with having a disability. But that does not mean you can use it as a crutch or an excuse. It shouldn't stop you from reaching for success.

It may require some thinking outside of the box. It may take extra hard work or grit to make it happen.

But how bad do you want it? If your "why" is strong, your push to do it will be strong, too!

Adapt. Overcome. CONQUER.
