Songbird Camp was founded by Nashville songwriter Ben Cooper. In short, we’re about bringing together a community of songwriters to dialogue about the industry, ask good questions, learn about ourselves and leave creatively filled. Set in the beauty of Deer Run Retreat Center, Songbird Camp is a place where you (the artist) can embrace your creative nature and gifting. It’s a time to relax and enj
oy meeting others, and it’s also a space where you can come more fully into your own voice. We believe art is most compelling when it emanates from a creator using his or her authentic voice and not someone else's. During our days together, we leave behind the distractions of daily life to learn and grow individually and as a group. Gleaning wisdom from industry professionals, discussing the elements of co-writing, enjoying the beauty of Deer Run Retreat and all its amenities, sharing healthy, delicious meals, writing and forging relationships, writers at Songbird Camp gain a fresh, holistic take on creativity. Another unique element of Songbird Camp is our mentors. Talented and caring music industry professionals, including veteran songwriter Gordon Kennedy (Eric Clapton's "Change the World") and other chart-topping writers, encourage and come alongside writers at each of our retreats. In the end, our hope is that you will leave Songbird Camp filled and empowered to bring your own voice to the creative table. Then and only then can original creativity develop and thrive.
