GOD’S MUSIC TODAY!
“TOP 40 CHART OVERVIEW”/
& TOP FIVE - “CLOSER LOOK”
AUGUST 15, 2024
We encourage everyone to continue to pray for the immediate families and close friends of The Nelons, and if you can help the remaining family with expenses, please visit: https://give.cornerstone.cc/projectlovethyneighbor – Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comfort” – Please pray for each other, the USA, and our world in turmoil! God’s Music Today!
Another first for us here at God’s Music Today, as all the songs in the Top Five, actually stayed in the Top Five, they just did a bit of rearranging. We do however, have a new #1 song. Votes count, and all Five songs received a record number of votes and even in the final tabulation, all five were so incredibly close! So let’s take a look under the hood, here’s the ‘TOP 40 Chart Overview” & the ”Top Five - Closer Look” for AUGUST 15, 2024!
TOP 40 CHART OVERVIEW – AUGUST 15, 2024
Congratulations to Jordan St. Cyr/”My Foundation” as Jordon moved to the #1 position this cycle on God’s Music Today! The title cut from his brand new CD, “My Foundation” was at #2, and moving to the #1 spot wasn’t as easy as it sounds because very few points separated the entire Top Five! Moving up one point and coming in at #2 is SPARK/”I Found Myself”. “I Found Myself” is the first song we’ve ever played by the talented trio SPARK, and they have certainly held their own with some of our other God’s Music Today favorites, they obviously have become a favorite with our listeners as well. Also moving up one point to #3 is Justin Warren/”See you Again”. A thoughtful & reflective song that shows that Justin can deliver a great ballad. Again, it highlights the competitiveness of the votes. Falling to the #4 slot from 2 weeks @ #1 of course is Nicole Norton/”Don’t You Dare Give Up” – a beautifully delivered song of hope & courage written by Nicole Norton & Carli Lessing really drove the votes in. In this situation, sadly it was only the lack of a few votes that caused the song to move. Still holding quite defiantly at #5 is Avenue/”Talking To Jesus” – this song has had an incredible journey, only to be halted in place by the lack of a just a very few votes! The good news is there’s still time for all these songs, because absolutely anything can happen in this next cycle, the fans just need to be motivated & take heed. It’s only fair to mention that the voting for the remaining Top 10 was just as close, and that any of the Top 10 songs could vault into the Top Five, or even into the #1 spot, so get your peeps voting, as you can see, every vote counts, particularly now! You can read more about our Top Five songs by scrolling down the page to our “Top Five-Closer Look”
“Top Mover”: Our “Top Mover” this cycle is a great song that belongs to Aryn Michelle/”Evil Kings” with a +13-point jump from #33 to #20 – Other Hot Movers this cycle: Kevin Price/”Hope Walked In” took an +11-point surge from #34 to #24 & three other songs claimed an impressive +10-point move including: Kara Hanan/”Eyes On You” entering the Top 10 moving from #20 to #10 – Selah/”Rise Up” jumped from #24 to #14 & Michael Lacey/”Witness” made his way upward from #39 to #29!
The “Top New Entry” this cycle belongs to TrueSong/”He Is Jesus” debuting at ( #31). We welcome TrueSong back into the Top 40 @ God’s Music Today! Three other great artists found their way onto our Top 40 chart this cycle; Dustin Starks/”I Blame You” broke thru at ( #38), Aaron Michaels/”God Of Miracles” debuted at ( #39) & David Leonard/”God Of This Place” grabbed the ( #40) spot!
Three songs, (two former #1’s and one that should have been) are Celebrating 20 Weeks on our Top 40 this cycle! – After Grace/”Love Doesn’t” (6 Weeks @ #1), Kayla Berry/”Same God”(Gratitude)” (2 Weeks @ #1) & SouthBound/”Middle of Nowhere” (peaked @ #2 but spent 8 weeks in the Top Five) – Congratulations to these three amazing artists!
“Top 5 Bubbling Under Top 40” includes: – Jordan Janzen/"Kindness", Anna Pearson/”Power Again”, AOH Music/”Same God (Of David’s Heart)”, Sean Rodriguez/"Jesus Will” & Matthew West/”Chosen” – check our Chart Insider for more info!
TOP FIVE / “CLOSER LOOK”– AUGUST 15, 2024
#1 Jordan St. Cyr/"My Foundation”
Congratulations to Jordan St. Cyr/”My Foundation” for claiming the #1 position on God’s Music Today this cycle. “My Foundation” also took the “Top Total Votes” & the “Top Domestic Votes (USA)”. This cycle set record voting totals and Jordan St. Cyr moved to the top. The vote tally was very close, but “My Foundation” prevailed. With all those votes we always have comments: Talia K. of New Britain CT, USA wrote: “I love Jordan’s music, been a fan from the beginning, this is a great song!” – GMT: Hi Talia, we’ve been fans from the beginning as well, Thanks for your vote & comment, I’m sure Jordan appreciates it as well! – Doug Snyder of Affton, MO USA said: “Jordan St Cyr is consistently awesome” – Nichole Castellano of Las Vegas NV USA shared: “this song helps me center myself, love it!” – Aaron Luschek of Toronto Canada added: “I had to vote for my Canadian brother” – GMT: Hi Aaron, we’d be disappointed if you didn’t! lol - Learn more about Jordan St. Cyr, his music, tour schedules and ministry by visiting his website at: www.JordanStCyr.com
#2 SPARK/"I Found Myself"
Claiming the #2 spot this cycle, SPARK/”I Found Myself” missed becoming the #1 song this round by just a few votes. Knowing that, it’s important to note that SPARK still received a record number of votes, which is good to know, because the next voting cycle is in process! On another good note SPARK/”I Found Myself” claimed the “Top International Votes” this cycle. Comments continued to come in: Agathe Heylen of Evere Belgium wrote: “really like them a lot, so unique and what a good looking bunch they are to boot 😊” – GMT: Thanks Agathe, someone had to eventually say it, AND we’re glad it was you. We might add that they’re super talented too… lol – Eric Antonelli of Destin FL USA said: “great song, thanks for posting their website, got lot’s of info about them” – PJG of Salt Lake City, UT USA shared: “SPARK is excellent live too, glad they’re doing so well, they deserve it” – Meghan Waldron of Hagerstown MD USA added: “Love this, can’t wait to hear what’s next!” - GMT: Hi Meghan, we’re going to have to check with them, something’s got to be bubbling! Thanks for voting & commenting. Lol Spread the word! They have a great website full of info with their tour schedule, music, news updates & ministry - visit @: www.sparkmusicofficial.com
#3 Justin Warren/"See You Again
One spot up to #3 is what Justin Warren/”See You Again” was able to accomplish to squeeze out this cycle. Considering how compact everything is, we applaud that. Justin Warren has a large following with our listeners here on God’s Music Today, and they are voting, Justin needs to pull some more votes out of the non-listeners to move to the top. Usually Justin is already there, it’s a bit tougher this round. Keeping in mind the entire Top 10 has a shot, so Justin fans need to answer the call! Justin Warren/”See You Again” captivated the “Top Commented” this cycle and that bodes well because folks are being moved by this song enough to write in. Comments are always in the que for Justin, this cycle is no different: Sara Yarborough of Columbia SC USA wrote: “this is a special song to me, just the reassurance of seeing everyone again, beautiful” – Conner Whitman of Elgin, IL USA said: “Justin Warren keeps besting himself, this is his best song yet” – GMT: Hi Connor, we agree! Thanks for the vote & the comment! – Shelley Lazara of Arvada, CO USA shared: “I lost my sister 8 years ago, listening to this song brings me peace” – Regina Acklen of Muncy IN USA added: “I like the thought of this song, as it is very comforting” – Learn more about Justin Warren, his music, schedule & ministry, visit Justin's website at: www.JustinWarrenMusic.net
#4 Nicole Norton/"Don’t You Dare Give Up" – (2 Weeks @ #1)
After spending a way too short 2 weeks at #1, Nicole Norton/”Don’t You Dare Give Up” has fallen to the #4 spot. Now in all fairness, the song lost its place by just a few votes. Actually all the songs in the Top Five, and even in the Top 10 are very close. It was amazing to us how close it all is. Nicole could easily move back up the chart. Even though “Don’t You Dare Give Up” fell a few spots, it still received a record setting vote count. With that said, to all you Nicole Norton fans, to quote this great song we know “Don’t You Dare Give Up, He’s not done yet!” An abundance of comments have come in along with the votes for this song: Natalie Laskowski of Buffalo NY USA wrote: “stunning song, I can feel her heart” – Yara Vinke of Diemen Netherlands said: “so very inspiring and encouraging, I can feel God coming through this song” – Jim Hargus of Lexington KY USA shared: “Been listening to your station for a couple months now, you play so many great artists like Nicole Norton. This is a great song!” – GMT: hi Jim, thank you for listening, and Nicole thanks you for your comment and your vote! - Dana Buchanan of Mt Pleasant SC USA added: “great song for tough times, I know them well!” - Learn more about Nicole Norton, her tour schedule, music, & ministry by visiting her website @: www.NicoleNortonMusic.com
#5 Avenue/"Talking To Jesus"
Déjà-vu for Avenue/”Talking To Jesus” as the song is still holding at #5 this cycle. The issue is simple, Avenue also received a record setting amount of votes, and there were only a small amount of votes separating the “Top Five”, it is a tight and crowded Top Five, add to that the other four songs have been on the chart longer. The good news for Avenue is that they have only been on the chart for 8 weeks, so they have a lot of time to continue their surge forward, the excitement and momentum is in their favor. Listeners are definitely loving this song, Avenue just needs to encourage their fanbase to vote – If comments are great indicators of how well a song is doing, then Avenue has this handled: Patricia Mueller of Orem UT USA wrote: “what a cool song, love it” - Brad Cabrera of Santa Rosa CA USA said: “So the last chart you guys told us that they were a Southern Gospel group, not that I didn’t believe you, but I checked! and DANG! Not a SG fan per say, but I love what they’re doing now! They should do both” – Sabrina Wessley of Birmingham, GB UK shared: “It’s always great to here something so good and so different for a change, excellent!” – Todd Balmore of Warner Robbins GA USA added: “I have to give this song a big “yes”, a definite stand out” – GMT: We’d have to agree with all the above! - Learn more about Avenue, their music, tour schedule and ministry by visiting their website at: www.AvenueMusic.net
