I’ve been MIA y’all because I’m at in Thailand!

Phuket has been on my bucket list for a little over 10 years and it’s more beautiful than I imagined!

I’m staying at the beautiful Angsana Laguna Phuket] which is Set along the shores of Phuket’s Bang Tao Bay in the island’s northwest.

I’ve never seen beaches quite like this before with the warm white sands or the swim up pool that my balcony opens up too!

If you could retire from work today, what would you do with your time?

Would you travel, spend more time with your families, volunteer or pursue a favorite hobby?

Putting work over play is not only a cultural phenomenon, it’s also one that is apparently very “American.”

In several other countries around the world, people have found ways to find “balance,” to live the lives they desire before they reach retirement…and they’re doing it with happy, healthy smiles on their faces.

Are you checked out of life because of life?

Plan one trip, try one new restaurant, go to the park, try a new dish, just do something different because life is too short.

The Soft Life for me is more than having luxury handbags and luxury vacations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While those things are certainly nice to have my main goal is to ensure I can have those things long-term and not because it's popular on IG to travel, show off my luxury handbags and pictures of me traveling to exotic locations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you have your finances under control, you enable yourself to live your life on purpose instead of living your life on payment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can do what you want when TF you want!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Below are a few facts that I found interesting as it relates to financial literacy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💰Two-thirds of American adults can’t pass a basic financial literacy test.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💰 44% of Americans don’t have enough cash to cover a $400 emergency.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💰The majority of US adults (61%) have had credit card debt in the past 12 months and nearly two in five (38%) carry such debt from month to month.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💰Nearly four out of every five U.S. workers live paycheck to paycheck.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💰Nearly three in 10 adults (29%) are now saving more compared to one year ago.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💰 56% of American adults have less than $10,000 saved for retirement.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Financial literacy is not something you will magically know either.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The same way we study IG and try to figure out this algorithm is the same time and energy we need to put into our financial knowledge.

I want to challenge everyone to dedicate a minimum of 1-2 hours each week to reading books about managing your money, investing, how to budget, etc. so you are not just posting luxury pictures for the gram while you barely have money from week to week.

***BREAKING*** We have selected our host destination for TBEX Europe 2023. The dates including the Pre-BEX trips, Networking events, Workshops and Conference days will be May 8 – 12.

This Black is barely cracking!

I am so blessed to turn 51 today! Ageless!

I no longer do things I don’t want to do and I’ve given myself permission to say ‘no’ and rest.

If I want to sit and watch Cheaters all day I do.

I surround myself with people I want to be around and stay away from people who suck the life out of me.

And I no longer feel shame for mistakes I’ve made.

They are part of my story and it’s made me a more empathetic person.

My 50's are about living a life of ease and luxury!

The biggest factor in traveling more is simply making it a priority.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s easy to get caught up in the trappings of life—career, home, family, and hobbies. Stuff.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step. And no travel will happen if it isn’t a priority.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As Americans, we’re at a disadvantage when it comes to vacation time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Europeans typically have at least 5 weeks of paid time off every year. Americans are incredibly lucky if we get three weeks (and much less is the norm).

But the only way to really make it happen is to prioritize it.

By now, you’ve definitely seen the “soft life” trend.

It has taken over Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other social media platforms. YouTuber Urania, characterizes it as Black women living “a life of ease, peace, comfort and intentional happiness.”

It rebukes struggle love, stress and distress.

And it consists of mutual relationships, clarity and self care.

For me the soft life is more than luxury hotels, bottomless mimosas and luxury handbags.

The soft life for me is having the financial freedom to live my life on my terms.

The soft life for means multiple streams of income, understanding my finances, credit, teaching my daughter the importance of financial literacy.

Well…what would you do? If money really weren’t an object, because you built wealth.

What would you spend your days doing?

Another way to ask this question is, all obstacles aside, what do you truly want from life?

Once you’ve answered this question, you’ll be able to find your path to a life of ease.

When I mention a “life of ease,” I’m looking at an overall bigger picture.

Having what you want and being satisfied with the life you’ve built for yourself creates ease.

Choosing a life of ease means choosing the path that is most true to you.
