The Dorethy Benefit Series

The Dorethy Benefit Series This page is dedicated to raising awareness about the Wes Dorethy benefits we are launching, and the Van payment, rent, insurance, utilities, etc.

Wes was in an ATV accident that crushed his pelvis, damaged his organs, and has resulted in having to endure multiple surgeries already. For so many of us in this community of North Central Arkansas and Mountian Home, Wes is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says local music. Wes is a professional musician, just getting noticed but has dedicated his life to entertaining people with h

is amazing gift. Wes sings, writes, and is proficient in a number of instruments. He has toured the world by scraping by, charging way too little for his services, and extending his generosity to everyone he meets. As a budding musician, Wes does not have health insurance, and he was rejected by Medicaid. On top of all the medical bills, of course, there are regular bills. Please join me in raising your voice, your prayers, and if able your generosity so that we might extend our undying love, our gratitude, and our help to a member of our community who has done so much for local art and music. If you have met Wes, then you know, they don't come any better. I am working with various bands in the community to launch a benefit concert series as well. So please give here if you can, and when we announce our benefit shows, come support it as all the money raised will go to Wes.

Hello Everybody!

It looks like we can declare "Mission Accomplished" and close out this benefit series and the Go Fund Me account. There were so many people who stepped up to volunteer that we didn't even utilize them because Wes was recovering quicker than we could keep up...but that's the power of community. Hear from Wes Directly in the video. -Derek

A few small changes to the line-up, but rest assured you are in for a good show. We have to miss out on Chris Cash and Amber Sutton for this one, but we added Craig Estes Music and there is a wonderful rumor going around that we might just get to see Wes on stage for a song or two if everything is going ok.

FREE SHOW - Donations Encouraged - Ramada Inn Mountain Home This Saturday, January 14th. A Special rate on rooms is available. BYOB. 6:30PM to 10:00PM.

I haven’t said much about it yet because I’d been holding my breath waiting to hear that he’s “out of the woods.“
A few weeks ago our band mate Wes was in a near fatal accident.

We are so joy filled that he is on the road to recovery. It looks like it’s going to be a long one.
The life we live as musicians often means we don’t have health insurance.

If you’re in a giving mood, or looking for a way to make a difference in someone’s life, here is think link I’m donating to to help my road brother with his medical needs: https://gofund.me/52db2db9

Wishing health and safety to all of our road worn loved ones .

Happy Birthday Wes

Happy Birthday Wes

I've gone social media silent over the past few weeks so to update those who don't know - I was involved in a near-fatal UTV crash a few weeks ago. The incredible doctors at UAMS in Little Rock performed emergency surgery and saved my life. Unfortunately, due to the injuries I've sustained, I will be unable to do much of anything until I can get out of a wheelchair and start learning to walk again.

That aside, I never in a million years would have thought this many people would reach out with their love, prayers, and even contributions to help with my medical bills. There's too many to name and I likely won't get to hug and thank all of you in person, but from the bottom of my heart - thank you.

I turn 27 today and while it's the strangest birthday I've had, I'm left feeling nothing but thankful: for my family, friends in Tennessee and Arkansas, .me , Larry and Mary McGrath, and these fellas here, my brothers from different mothers.

Life is weird and hard, but I think it's still worth it. If you've made it this far I hope you're at least encouraged that there are lots of good people out there. So be kind to each other, show grace when you can, and I hope to see all of you in person soon.

We appreciate Rapp's Barren Brewing Company for being a great venue. We look forward to working with Ramada Inn, Rio, and we are exploring some other available venues as well. Each show we will feature a different local band so this series is a great way to see what your local music scene has to offer.

If you a band or a venue that is willing to donate your time/resources to a benefit show, let me know and let’s start working on Spring. (We are seeking venues where the cold doesn’t limit us). Ideally the team behind the benefit series will launch one show a month for the next 4 or 5 months. Join us.

We had at a great time last night at Pickin N Grinnin and appreciate all of you who came out. We raised just over $1k in tips alone last night. This is the power of a healthy music community, and I can’t wait to roll out the January show for you all. Mark you calendars for Jan 14th at the Ramada inn. Wes was able to watch the show online last night and he said everyone was on fire last night. A great night for local music, community, and the local festivities.

More to come.

Quick update from Wes:

"I'm out of the hospital and at home with my parents recovering. Still wheelchair/bedridden for 4 more weeks and then I can start the physical therapy on my leg to hopefully start walking again. Everything is looking good though. Surgical wounds are healing well and bones are healing as they should too."

Hello Everybody!
First I wanna say that Wes's condition has improved since this page was made last week. He still has a long way to go, but he's communicating and ready to get to work on recovery. That being said, the mission to help Wes and his family overcome this massive burden is not over, and our work as local musicians is just getting started.

We have two benefit shows planned with more in the works!
*December 2nd - "Pickin" N Grinnin" 7pm Rapp's Barren
*January 14th - Mellow Mountain Bands Winter Bash - Ramada Inn (details to follow).

I am supposed to write my favorite memory with you, and welp, I can’t pick one🤷🏼‍♀️. From the first day you came to our house, to rehearse “Stones Under Rushing Water”…on my front porch… in freezing temps…cause…covid (lol), to this last week, when we worked on a new song together, drinking bad coffee, being interrupted by Giles and his many costumes (he had to show you😜), I nervously playing the piano, trying to show you the general idea and you patiently listening, like you always are… and then every time in between.

Family dinners, us introducing you to The Matrix and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (You’re welcome🤭), Giles calling you “Uncle Wes” for the first time and it looking like your heart might explode, Pruett playing you a song he wrote and you making him feel like a million bucks, Matt pulling you and I behind the boat and you taking that opportunity to insist I keep writing.

The show… at Back Forty…we both said how comfortable and at home we felt, cause we were. All of these moments and the others I didn’t mention…. We just love you “Mr. Wes”. Your kindness, your wit, your laugh and new-show all your teeth kinda smile, your ability to see us all and then give us words to sing for all the seasons this life throws our way, we love you and thank you for it.

So as the balloons always say “Get Well Soon”, cause we’re already planning our next family dinner, and there’s more songs to be written and sung, and Giles has a few more costumes he’s sure you haven’t seen😂

“I want you to wake up tomorrow and feel better” -You

Friends of local music in the Mountian Home area. A tragedy has occurred that has left Wes Dorethy in a rough situation. Wes was in an ATV accident Monday that resulted in the damage of internal organs, a crushed pelvis, and multiple surgeries. With the permission of his family and with the help of many of the area's musicians, we are launching a Go Fund Me and some benefit shows. Please follow this page and turn on notifications. While we work on logistics for the benefit series you can help Wes by visiting his Go Fund Me: (link below). Wes is the kind of person who would never ask for money or advocate for himself, so it is up to us who know him and know the spirit of his character to rally for him. Please share, give, and follow along as we lift Wes and his family up in prayer, love, and support.
