We’ve had a wonderful three days of basketball at our Katz and Kittens Klassic Tournament. Our girls captured the championship. Addison Simper was named MVP, while Karsyn Blahuta, Audrey Swinford, and Reese Nieto nabbed all-tourney honors. The boys walked away as runners-up, and Landon Chaloupka, Seth Beyer, and Jaxon Bartos took home all-tourney honors. Great job to all our players, managers, and coaches! A huge thanks to the Moulton Booster Club for hosting this event for our kiddos and community!

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Friday afternoon around 04:21 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting 18 Wheeler truck on fire on I-10 E/B at the 663 MM. The Flatonia Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene. Flatonia P.D. Officers Trey Tunis and Taylor Amos also responded to the fire along with Deputies Herman Olvera and Cedar Chase. Upon arrival it was reported the truck was fully involved in fire. Assistance from the Schulenburg Fire Department was requested and they responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished and there were no reported Injuries. The trailer contained food items and it is believed the fire originated from the engine area.

The Moulton City Council presented their outgoing city attorney, Mr. Eduardo "Eddie" Escobar with a plaque of appreciation to recognize his service to the City of Moulton. Mr. Escobar has been with the City of Moulton since October of 2021. Mr. Escobar resigned his position to serve as the newly elected Gonzales County Attorney. His guidance and service for the City is appreciated.

Katz and Kittens Award of Excellence

At the school board meeting on December 11, 2024, the principals awarded their Katz and Kittens Award of Excellence to two students and two staff members. Victoria Ortiz presented the student award to Ryan Koncaba and the staff award to Aaron Anglin. Penny Irwin presented the student award to Lorenzo Tousek and the staff award to Kelly Nieto. Both principals expressed their admiration and appreciation for these outstanding staff members and students. MISD is so very lucky to have them!

FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFFS REPORT
NOVEMBER 2024

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of November 2024.

Sgt. Angela Lala investigated a case in which a s*x offender failed to register within 7 days as required by law. The case has been handed over to the County Attorney’s Office for charges as well as adult probation.

Investigator Marc Bennett is currently investigation numerous cases of s*xual assaults, some of which are against children. The cases remain under investigation and charges are pending.

Deputy Herman Olvera took a report of vandalism which occurred at the Flatonia Golf Course. The case remains under investigation at this time. Olvera responded to a domestic disturbance in the Praha area. One subject was arrested on a felony warrant out of Guadalupe County for Aggravated Assault w/ Deadly Weapon. A report was taken in regards to the disturbance and the case will be presented to the Fayette County Attorney’s Office resulting in possible additional charges.

Deputy Chris Stansberry assisted with a vehicle pursuit which was initiated by a Texas DPS Trooper. The subject was arrested after a lengthy pursuit. Stansberry took a report of criminal mischief which occurred in the Muldoon area. The case remains under investigation at this time.

Deputy Duane Meagher took multiple reports of scams. Individuals were posing as local law enforcement officers demanding payments for warrants and missed court appearances. Meagher also responded to a report of a n**e male in a creek who was visible from the roadway. The subject was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

Deputy Jason Fowler responded to a utility pole that was engulfed in flames in the Waldeck area. Round Top Carmine Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. The utility company was notified. Fowler also responded to a disturbance in the Rutersville area. It was determined no physical contact occurred and the disturbance was a result of a son not taking his medication. The father agreed to take the son to the doctor in the morning to get him assistance.

Deputy Jared Michalec responded to a residence in Wi******er in reference to an accidental shooting. A subject was shooting a metal target when a bullet ricocheted off the target striking him in the chest. The subject was transported to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Michalec also arrested a female subject on a warrant out of Fayette County for Burglary.

Deputy Jose Mosqueda took a report of a structure fire which occurred in the Round Top. After further investigation, it was determined the fire was caused accidentally.

Deputy Mark Pritchard responded to a disturbance which occurred in the La Grange area. One subject was arrested on a family violence assault charge.

Deputy Ty Roggenkamp responded to a domestic disturbance which occurred in the Flatonia area. After further investigation, one subject was arrested for Assault Impeding Breath Family/Household.
