Happy to be at the Cologuard Classic with so many survivors, caregivers and advocates! Being a mom of 11, and finding out that I had advanced Colorectal Cancer right when I turned 45 was devastating. I thought my life was over. I never thought it would happen to me.

All I could think about was that I had my family and didn’t want to leave this earth just yet. I thought to myself that my 25-year-old daughter had me for 25 years and that she would be OK without me. All of my older kids would be OK! I wasn’t too worried about them because they had me for so long. But the little ones? My young daughter especially, who was only three at the time. That was not fair to her. None of it was fair.

How do we live in a world where Colon Cancer is taking the lives of younger and younger people? What can we do to stop this disease? One thing that we can do is screen for CRC. I’m not going to say just get your colonoscopy at 45. Some people won’t even make it to 45 because of this cancer. Cologuard is a starting point

If you have symptoms of GI distress, pain, change in bathroom habits, bleeding from the GI tract, please see a doctor and advocate for yourself. Try Cologuard! Do something. I don’t want anyone to have to find out that they are advanced.

We can survive this, but we have to FIGHT.

I’m almost finished with my treatment for stage 3 colon cancer. I’m starting to think about my survivorship plan and life after chemo. I’m so happy to be here still and able to spend time with my littlest baby, my 4 year old.

I still cry about the possibility of her losing her mama so young. People tell me “you could die tomorrow in an accident, it’s always a possibility”. But here’s the thing, I now know that I have something in my body that is actively trying to end my life. That’s not the same as an accident that could or could not happen in the future. I know that all we really have is today, so now that’s how I’m trying to live my life. It’s hard, I’m not going to sugar coat it. But I actively have to remind myself that this moment is special. Every moment. Even the moment that I’m typing this out. Life is a gift.

Life is a gift. Live your life like there’s no tomorrow. Build the fort with your kids. Let them snuggle in your bed with you. Take the trip now, not later. Use your fancy cups. Spray that expensive perfume you have even if you’re just staying home. Wear that special outfit today. Eat the donut.

Life is a gift. Live it. ❤️

Today was a big party prep day and I was swamped with tasks and needed a boost of energy! Thanks to Oaza Cold Brew] I can get my cold brew caffeine fix without feeling dehydrated later. Why? Natasha has been so independent with her potty training and I’m here for it! sent her their potty seat, step stool and faucet extender so she has been taking care of business on her own. I love that we have gotten to this point in development. She is proud of herself and I’m proud too!

The potty seat has handles that she can grab herself to attach to the toilet. That is awesome! The step stool has a wide base and a non skid surface so that we don’t have to worry about safety. Finally, the faucet extender helps her reach the water while washing her hands! It’s a win win in more situations than just potty training. We use the step stool and faucet extender for teeth brushing too. So convenient!

With all the hustle and bustle of the Holidays taking up so much time and energy, remember to schedule time to yourself!

Try not to tell yourself that there isn’t enough time (that used to be me!). Make the time and prioritize! It really changes things when you start putting your needs higher up on the list.

I’m not saying put yourself first immediately. That may be too hard for you if you aren’t used to it. But moving yourself up a few spots will help make a positive impact on your mental health and happiness. Try it! Tag someone below who needs this gentle reminder. ❤️

Baking during the Holidays is one of my favorite things to do! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 🎄This farmhouse tiered tray decor was so fun to put together. I found my main kit on Amazon and used other to I have that I had in my box of decorations. Most of my Rae Dunn comes from Home Goods or TJ Maxx, but they are sometimes hard to find for specific holidays. I have to buy the Christmas ones in October or even September usually!

Her love for art is emerging! It’s so fun to see her use her creativity and color with her older brothers. She is also practicing her math by counting the colors she has used. We get printer paper from Target and it works perfectly for drawing and coloring. Do you have little artists in your life? What’s their favor thing to color?

These Spring days are everything! 💐 We have been spending as much time as possible outside soaking up the sunshine and warmth. Natasha loves to spend her days in a sunshine. I've always been really comfortable in any season and while winter was my favorite for the past 3 months, Spring is now my favorite! 🤣
