East Mountain would like to introduce our new Girls soccer coach — Chris Olguin.

A message from Coach!

Hello East Mountain high school soccer community, I am Christopher “Chris” Olguin. As the new Head Coach for the EMHS Girls Varsity soccer team I am proud to be part of the Timberwolves pack! I have made a career in public service as a firefighter/paramedic and I am making my way out after 18 years. I will not be a full-time teacher at EMHS but as a substitute teacher I will be in the classroom as often as possible. I value respect, integrity, accountability, and hard work at home, in school and on the field.
I played soccer from the age of four, up to the college level. I have experience as AYSO 364 Regional Commissioner, AYSO coach and the AYSO travel team head coach. I am current with U.S. Soccer level D license and NFHS Coach level 1. Soccer has served a very important part of my life as it set the foundation for who I am today. I believe sports can build character, confidence and has set me up for success. Some of the life lessons learned through soccer, have played a part in molding values such as; respect, integrity, accountability, communication and hard work. My goal is to promote a safe, healthy learning environment and pass on the tools I have learned through my experiences.

North Mac High School would like to introduce Allen Michel, our new Wrestling Coach and North Mac High teacher!

Allen is from Moriarty, New Mexico and has wrestled since he was 6 years old. He was a two-time New Mexico State Champion. Allen was also a 2nd team All State Football player and class Valedictorian.

After High School, Allen accepted a scholarship to wrestle at New Mexico Highlands University, a small Division II school in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he got his bachelors' degrees in English and Political Science. He gained All-American status in 2022 by placing 8th at the National Tournament, where he also received the Elite 90 award, given to the athlete with the highest GPA at the tournament. He finished his collegiate career with a Master's Degree in English Literature, with a focus on early to mid-20th century American Lit.

After college, Allen stayed with the sport of wrestling and coached at the collegiate level for two years. During the second year, he was also an instructor of Freshman Composition for the university.

Along with being the head wrestling coach at North Mac, Allen will be teaching dual credit English, upper-level English Language Arts, and introductory Spanish classes.

We are beyond excited to welcome Coach Michel to North Mac Nation!!

There will be wrestling practice this upcoming week in the Old Gym at South Campus. Any student, grades 7th-12th, are welcome to join.

Practice will be Monday, June 10th - Thursday, June 13th from 2:00-4:00 PM. Practices will occur throughout the summer and Coach will be able to give you a schedule when you attend.

Some exciting news happening this summer! FM 102.1 will be doing a local sports talk show titled "Big Jim's Sports Corner." The first show will not air until June 12 from 5-6 pm but I will be looking to interview athletes (Rodeo included)and parents, especially recent graduates who might be leaving town for college, before then.
