Hello again
Those of you who've lived here awhile recall that a few years ago the Missoula Housing Authority teamed up a local non-profit about housing issues. We are now a partner member of this group - now called Common Good Missoula. And ramping up for more community conversations about housing.
The goal is to build relationships and power to create more equitable and affordable housing. The housing issue in Missoula is "huge and systemic. If we are going to change the direction of development and affordability in Missoula it's going to require a lot of people and a lot of power." We are prepping for conversations with the city next year. Some of the proposals include:
1. Sustainable funding for new Landlord Liaison and Risk Mitigation funds
2. City commit to funding third party research on how Inclusionary Zoning might help:
3. Mandate community oversight to define City held land and land-banking practices.
Is the cost of housing affecting your life? Would you like to share your story and meet others in the same boat? Or do you know someone who might be interested? Please contact me so we can chat and get you connected. The next meeting is February 23, 2021. Every story and every voice counts and is needed to create change.
Sincerely
