Be careful about scammers! Friends don’t let friends get scammed. Please share. These are at least three different “mini Highland” sites using our photos. Make sure you dig into the seller’s profile before moving forward. Also, if someone is selling a mini Highland for $1300, it’s obviously a scam. These babies cost several thousand dollars. Look for red flags 🚩 poor grammar… or the photo where you can see the Roos and Coos logo on my shirt….or where the guy calls her a mini Highland and then later a Jersey. Ask the seller to FaceTime with the animal….ask them to take a photo with a random object of your choice….or buy from farms that have good references. We are happy to recommend other reputable breeders if we don’t have what you’re looking for.

Have you noticed our yolks are starting to deepen in color? This is due to the return of green grass in the pasture. Color has been a long-term marketing use when it comes to eggs. White egg shells are connected to chickens who live in cages while brown gives the illusion that a chicken lives outside on pasture. Egg shell color has nothing to do with the condition in which the chicken is living, only the breed of the chicken. Knowledge around egg yolk color has gained traction recently that eggs with darker, more orange yolks are from chickens who live out on pasture due to their consumption of green grass. But color can also beeasily manipulated through chicken's supplemental feed. Adding marigold to a chicken's feed will give a yolk an orange hue without them ever eating a blade of grass. We believe in full transparency and when the pasture loses its green color our yolks lose their orange color.
