Live: In North Minneapolis, on the corner of Morgan Ave. North & Plymouth Ave. North, where the community has come together to celebrate the life and call for justice and accountability in the death of Leneal Frazier at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department.
On July 7th, 2021, LeNeal Frazier was killed during a high-speed chase in North Minneapolis. Brian Cummings of the Minneapolis Police Department was pursuing an alleged stolen vehicle when Officer Cummings broke Minneapolis PD protocol and pursued this vehicle through the residential neighborhood around the area of 41st Ave. N. and Lyndale Ave. N. in North Minneapolis with speeds exceeding 90 MPH. Leneal Frazier was not the target of this pursuit and was sitting at the stop light heading West on 41st. Ave. N. when the light turned green. Mr. Frazier proceeded through the stop light after a car sped in front of him and Lenael Frazier was stuck by Officer Brian Cummings vehicle, causing Mr. Frazier’ vehicle to burst into flames. Mr. Frazier was killed upon impact of that crash.
The Frazier family along with community activists and residents of North Minneapolis, have come together to call for justice in this case and hold not only Officer Brian Cummings accountable, but as well as the Minneapolis Police Department for giving the “Green Light” to pursue a vehicle at that rate of speed in a residential neighborhood forgoing their own protocols and procedures.
