We have just finished up with our kitchen renovation. I used this page to get ideas so thank you all! My last thing is to do a backsplash and maybe some decor but we are taking a break from the chaos for a few months (or maybe even a year 🤪)

Honestly, even I was 50/50 in the beginning when we found the original sink and salvaged Vitrolite tile- the tile green and sink green were sort of similar, but not a perfect match. It felt like combining them would either be fabulous OR a complete disaster.

I don’t know whether Snowman has a wife but now in my house he has one. Living in a country where we don’t really get snow I thought I might as well give him a wife. Not very appropriate for South Africa but why not. I made him a couple of weeks ago and just finished her. Hope you like Mr and Mrs😜

What options do I have to swap out for these terrible doors? We’ve replaced them like every other year and the tracks get bent/widened. It’s a tough spot because it’s a main hall and I’d like it to look nice, but also there’s no room on the sides of the doors.

I was commenting on a picture that I added to someone else’s post about back splashes and thought I’d share to the group…
I chose to use a grey grout when we did our back splash and people were warning me not to do it but I stuck to my guns and went with it. I love the way it matches the grain in my granite and that I’m not constantly cleaning white grout!
Our house was built in 1996, and when we bought it in 2002, it had honey oak builder cabinets that we lived with for about 12 years. I took the doors off, added the center “frames” and grouted them. Then we used wood filler to fill in the oak grain. I sanded that smooth, primed, sanded, did a first coat of Behr “Soft Wool” with a paint leveler additive, sanded and painted a second coat and hung them back up on the freshly filled in/ painted bases. Then it was time to add the new back splash. It was A LOT of work but I think it turned out well. We didn’t have the money to buy new cabinets so this was the only other option. I think we spent about, at most, $500 total. Once in a while the paint needs to be touched up but still glad we didn’t spend $30K on new cabinets.

Suggestions on light over large bar in our basement kitchenette. My issue is my husband only ran electric for one light in the center of the island.I feel that multiple pendant lights would look best, but I don’t think that’s an option 😫😫

Please help me figure this out! We just bought the house and I found this in a large walk-in closet that's supposed to be my craft room where I will make orders for my shop on the tedooo app. I'm honestly not sure what I'm looking at and if I can cover it or not. Don't want to sound dumb but I've never seen anything similar before.

I am in need of guidance on addressing the wall above the bathtub, as the cost of extending the tile behind the bathtub to the ceiling is excessively high. The estimate for tiling a limited area of the wall, from the door to the bathtub, was $4000. Taking into account the existing features in the room, I would appreciate advice on how to move forward.

Why do people complain about tv over fireplace? Some houses and floorplans don’t allow for another option. Too high? Neck pain? What are you watching tv from? A dinning chair??? Do you not sit comfortably on your couch? No ability to lean back and rest your head? Maybe you need better furniture? I get that it’s not an ideal location. Being able to decorate a fireplace is ideal, but not all have that luxury. And MOST of us have tvs. And when you have one, it makes sense for it to be visible from all seating locations. Just annoyed by so many judgy comments I see on peoples posts who have their tv over their fireplace. Stop being rude. It’s mean EDIT: a movie screen is 20-30ft high. No tv in a house is that high. And our eyes can look 8ft up without tilting our necks.

Family members new to them house, 100ish years old. This blue powder keeps appearing. She has vacuumed it up, swept it up, wiped it up. Shows up overnight. Only in the kitchen. What’s going on?
