Bulgarian-born Elena Lacheva is the Co-Director and Co-Creator of the Collaborative Piano Institute - the premier summer program for current and potential collaborative pianists, singers, instrumentalists, and composers. Currently, she is a Lecturer of Piano at the University of Michigan, after holding the Professional-in-Residence position at Louisiana State University for seven years. In addition, she has a rich background as a vocal coach and repetiteur for notable opera centers and companies, including Houston Grand Opera and New Orleans Opera. Professor Lacheva, a sought-after coach and collaborative pianist, is also part of the Aelia Piano Duo, showcasing her talents in vocal, instrumental, and chamber music performances internationally. Having completed collaborative piano studies at the University of Michigan, she further honed her skills at the Merola Program and Tanglewood Music Center. Passionate about written expression, Ms. Lacheva engages in content creation for grant proposals, marketing, and advertising campaigns across various media platforms.
Venezuelan pianist Ana María Otamendi has performed as soloist, collaborative pianist, and conductor throughout the United States, South America, and Europe with renowned artists such as Ashley Hall, Donald Sinta, Michelle DeYoung, Paul Groves, Ana María Martinez, members of the Chicago Lyric, Houston Grand Opera, and Dallas Opera Orchestras, Philadelphia Orchestra, Dallas and Milwaukee Symphonies, etc. She is Associate Professor of Collaborative Piano at the University of Michigan, Co- Director and co-creator of the Collaborative Piano Institute, pianist of the Reverón Piano Trio, and pianist of the Hall/Otamendi Duo. Recitals, masterclasses, and speaking engagements have taken her to Cambridge University, Yale, Wolftrap Opera, Universidade de Sao Paulo, Mahidol University (Thailand), University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Texas at Austin, among many other venues. She earned a DMA in Collaborative Piano from the University of Michigan, she is fluent in four languages and is also a Geophysical Engineer whose thesis was published in the prestigious journal Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors.
