As the non-profit arm of Mr. At the core of CLS is Creative.Life.Support Records, whose main function is to offer interest-free financing for recording studio projects. Another large part of Creative.Life.Support is the annual Real.Life.Music Camp and Real.Life.Skate Camp, held concurrently during the summer. These one week programs offer participants unparalleled opportunities for personal advanc

ement, including group seminars and one-on-one instruction from industry professionals within their chosen discipline.

Our trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last week was a blast!! We toured the museum and had a performance outside! Thankful to everyone who came out to hear our music and what a great way to close out our We Rock Academy Class of 2024 season!!! Thank you to SWAN the state wide adoption network for having the We Rock Academy students perform at their big conference last week at ! So grateful for this opportunity for our youth to sing their songs and share their stories with such a big gathering of social workers, agencies and kind humans concerned with finding help for foster and unhoused youth!

Words cannot express how proud we are of these kids! We are also so thankful to Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Creative.Life.Support for creating We Rock Workshop and the opportunity for our teaching artists like Big Jus, Phat Man Dee, Dennis Robinson, Leonardo Johnson led by Liz Berlin to share everything they have learned about music, live performance, recording, and songwriting with these talented young artists.

We had our CD release party last week at Mr. Smalls Theatre, next week we are going to be taking them to perform at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland! Folks are welcome to come check us out if they want at 1 PM Thursday, May 9! Free show outside the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame!

This year’s WE ROCK ACADEMY starts this Wednesday!

We are looking for 16 motivated youth 14-24 to participate in this 30+ week program to write and record original music, perform live at Mr. Smalls Theatre, & travel for a visit and performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

This Wednesday is the first of 6 intro classes where anyone can come to learn about the program and see if it is a good fit for them. We’ll be downtown at 1 Smithfield Street in the Homestead Gray’s room from 5:30-8:30 pm.

Dinner will be provided and transportation can be arranged.

Thank you so much to for including our We Rock Workshop Students last night at their incredible avant garde ballet performance which centered stories of juvenile (in)justice. Our work centers teaching at risk foster youth how to tell their stories in song and work to learn the production techniques to share them. To see some if the stories that we’ve heard all too often rendered in dance was powerful and an important message I hope more people get to hear. Thank you Jeremy McQueen and your amazing company for bringing this work to Pittsburgh and and thank you for including youth from our community not just from We Rock but also from and others! We look forward to your continued success and to when you might return.

More pics from our wonderful trip to Cleveland with the We Rock Academy graduates this week! We performed their new album (link in bio!!) at then we went to for the opening of the Holla if You Hear Me!! 50 Years of Hip Hop exhibition.

Some really nice ones in here I got when was kind enough to stop and really talk to our students. He said things like they have everything they need to go out and do what they want to do they just have to go and do it. And to believe in themselves. He was also a kid who grew up in foster care, and now, he’s an internationally renowned and beloved icon who helped write the songs that built the empire that became the art form of Hip Hop.

We Rock Workshop Livestream of 2022 Album Drop Celebration

For those who cannot attend in perso, this will final performance of the 2022 We Rock Workshop, a free recording and performance workshop for youth who have a history of or are currently receiving CYF services, led by Liz Berlin of the multi-platinum band Rusted Root and sponsored by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. In the We Rock Workshop, participants explore the creation of music and learn meaningful ways to incorporate music into their lives. This program consists of weekly in-person professional recording sessions where participants work together to create original songs, as well as private virtual coaching sessions in the areas of vocal coaching, songwriting, recording, beat making, and song production. The incredible talent and hard work of our amazing students will be showcased at the We Rock Workshop Album Drop Celebration on July 7th, 2022, at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale, PA. You will hear brand new original music performed live, that was written during the student’s participation in the We Rock Workshop. Also, there will be special appearances by Liz Berlin, cosmic jazz chanteuse Phat Man Dee, and legendary Pittsburgh MC, Big Jus.
