Lots of events today on 97.1 WDMM:
Today, we remember The Doors lead singer Jim Morrison. He died this day in 1971 at the age of 27 from heart failure. Today starting at 10, we will play a song from The Doors from 1967-1971 at every top of the hour.
The Doors Also releassed "Waiting for the Sun" today in 1968. Their first chart-topper, delivered the #1 signature smash "Hello, I Love You" and the Top 40 hit "The Unknown Soldier." Today at Noon, we will play a full hour of the album and "Hello, I Love You" is your song of the day.
Also today is the release of the new film "Despicable Me 4." Today, we will keep you updated on any classic rock songs that will appear in the film. We already have "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses. On July 9, 2010, debuted the Franchase film and had Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd. On this day in 2013, the second film of the franchase was released. Unfortunatly, there were no classic rock songs in it, but on July 10, 2015, the first spin-off film "Minions" was released with multiple 60s songs by The Beatles, The Turtles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Spencer Davis Group, and The Kinks, and Van Halen. On June 30, 2017, the third Despicable Me Movie was released with two classic rock songs of "Jump" by Van Halen and "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. 2 Years ago on Monday, the second spin-off movie "Minions: The Rise of Gru" with the song "You're No Good" originally by Linda Ronstadt in 1974 but re-recorded by Van Halen in 1979. Mark Janson will be live at NCG Cinemas in Midland tomorrow from 1-7 with the rekease.
