Event Description:Are you developing a case of
emergent fatigue--getting bored and/or frustrated with emergent dialogue in
which we all agree on the same points, and keep going around in circles about
the same troubling issues?At this month's meeting we will aim to free
ourselves from the malaise by discussing the reconstruction of a Gospel that is
more effective and meaningful, rather than continually de-constructing the ones
we already have found to be lacking. The topic of discussion is Jonathan Brink's
new book Discovering the God Imagination. You don't need to read the book
beforehand to participate meaningfully in the discussion, but you are encouraged
to listen to the Whiskey Preacher podcast interview with Brinks and/or read the
free download of Chapter One of Brink's book.After the book discussion,
we will discuss possible interfaith response to the anti-Islamic sentiment that
has been fueled by the Park 51 Islamic community center controversy (aka the
Ground Zero Mosque), and update the group on other interfaith
activities.Contact me with any questions or additional agenda
