HARTFORD — A Plainville man has been charged in a double-homicide on Hendricxsen Avenue in Hartford earlier this month.
James Chaney, 25, is charged with murder and first-degree reckless endangerment, Hartford police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said in a news release.
Boisvert said the arrest stems from a shooting on Hendricxsen Avenue on May 4, when police responded to a report of shots fired and found two unresponsive men in a building stairwell. He said the pair were suffering gunshot wounds, and were transported to the hospital.
The victims, 19-year-old Hartford resident Lavante Brown and 16-year-old Aydin Davis, later were pronounced dead, Boisvert said.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and took over the investigation, Boisvert said, and developed information pointing to Chaney being the suspect. He said police got a warrant for his arrest, adding he was taken into custody by members of the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Hartford Police Violent Crime Unit.
Chaney was being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail, Boisvert said.
James Chaney, 25, of Plainville is charged with murder in connection with the shooting deaths of Lavante Brown, 19, and Aydin Davis, 16, in Hartford May 4.
