Just wrapped a cool session with the inspiring Jordan Vachal. ……We tracked drums with all the live room doors open and mic’d every inch of the building. Then he cut guitar and bass via DI. After that we re-amped everything using the same set ups. And THEN we even re-amped the drums thru our early 70’s SVT (kick and snare) and PA system (stereo overheads and toms).

However, my experience at surpassed all expectations and became truly exceptional.

This studio embodies the very essence of musical history, encapsulating the journeys of countless artists who have passed through its doors and continue to do so. This sentiment resonated deeply as I engaged with the studio's hardware and interacted with its talented personnel, namely and .

They possess an impressive wealth of knowledge and promptly address any challenges that arise, which further enhanced the significance of my journey to the United States.

Lastly, I must emphasize the vintage console within the studio. It carries a profound and storied past, accompanied by a distinct character and personality. Its equalizer curves, though differing from today's emphasis on hyper-precision and "digital" exactness, possess a highly original and unique quality that may be hastily deemed "incorrect." However, these very traits contribute to the console's true strength and singularity. Moreover, in my opinion, Straw is a true gem due to yet another feature—the sound of the entire signal chain, particularly the mix buss, designed by Scott at Memphis Recording Co.

He has ingeniously harnessed the sonic properties of this chain by expertly cascading the hardware in a distinctive manner, resulting in a remarkable sonic signature. Working on this project was thus doubly enjoyable, enthralling, and deeply satisfying!"

Scott engineered both Socks and Undivided Heart & Soul, as well as an album I produced for my buddy .

Scott’s DIY blue collar work ethic, generous spirit, and his penchant for funky vintage recording gear and wild techniques made us a match in heaven.

He’s currently an important part of the lavish Memphis music community, and recently contributed to a Grammy nominated album with scrappy up-and-comers like - (keep an eye on that kid)
