The W.C. Handy Heritage Awards celebrates the South and honors Authentic Beale Street Musicians. The 18th Annual W.C. Memphis at 6:00 pm.

Handy Heritage Awards will celebrate the 141st birthday of W.C. Handy, “Father of the Blues.” Presented by the W.C. Handy Memphis Home & Museum and Heritage Tours, the black-tie musical extravaganza honors “Authentic Beale Street Musicians.” This event will be an evening filled with great entertainment and recognition. ty of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave. Since its inception, the W.C. Handy Heritage Awards has honored more than 150 musicians and entertainers. Among the previous honorees are B.B. King, Isaac Hayes, Willie Mitchell, Eddie Floyd, Herman Green, Otis Clay, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas, Ruby Wilson and Denise LaSalle. Other outstanding Blues musicians will receive awards at this year’s event.
