----> In 2019, I completed a photography project entitled "Brown". Originally as ,I simply hoped to create lifelong images that I could later transfer into different mediums as I progressed as a creative director. My friends were so gracious to not only let me photograph them but also paint their faces in glorious designs. This very shoot was the beginning and literal infancy of The Brie Brand as a creative director/thought generator.

so here’s a secret:
80% of every shoot I’ve ever done….I dressed myself. From head to toe, no sponsors, no stylists, no makeup most times. Being a model requires you to be willing to really plan ahead.
For this shoot: the entrepreneur told me a description of the hat and told me the location.
I planned the small details, the rings, gloves, socks, shoes, etc.. .
The emphasis is on the hat itself and she chose this Memphis staple park to take the pictures.
Moral of the story —> Models always do what we can with what we’ve got. No questions asked, just ex*****on at the highest level 🔥🔥

People don’t just “model”.
Literally standing in front of a camera for hours and giving every soft/subtle/sharp face is not what you think it is.
Modeling for me is transmuting emotion through a lens. It’s taking a brand, logo, or song playing and feeling it with every literal muscle in your face.
It’s taking your body to new heights because the most awkward poses always come out to be the most powerful shots.
It’s directing yourself into a pose that the client didn’t even know they wanted.
It’s total bodily control mixed with some direction and intense listening skills.
It’s creativity mixed with stuctured & calculated madness. It’s the idea that I have to embody the point of the shoot no matter the circumstances.
Modeling doesn’t mean hair and makeup it means an almost full transformation into someone you didn’t know you could even be.

Being a model isn’t as easy as getting makeup hair and an outfit and then picking a location. NOT AT ALL…

➡️Here are 10 things I’ve learned in my 10 + years of modeling and taking professional photos:

1️⃣learning to control your body.. the poses that feel the most awkward come out amazing… do something weird, you’ll thank yourself later.

2️⃣learn how to work with any photographer at any time.. no matter the lighting/time of day or physical challenges you must push through to get the most from your time/efforts.. every location/ scenario/ photographer is different.

3️⃣always be prepared, undergarments, makeup retouching, mirrors and changes of clothes/ options are mandatory unless you have a full employed crew on every shoot. . No one knows you like you so pack up and stay ready so you never have to get ready.

4️⃣learning to have confidence in yourself so that you don’t have to stop and view every single picture taken of you while slowing down the process.

5️⃣it’s about respecting yourself to know what you will and will not participate in. I never shoot n**e or close to n**e although I’ve been asked, I have no desire to work with anyone that pushes my boundaries for the sake of their (selfish) “creativity”

6️⃣always plan ahead the locations of your shots, the more versatility in one general area the better. Buildings, greenery, and parks have become my best friend on shooting days.

7️⃣dont give up on you, everything can never be perfect but how you handle adversity defines everything

8️⃣be alert, you never know what the photographer sees and sometimes a “good shot” isn’t one that you would have planned or thought about: stay aware of what needs you are there to fulfill, knock it out and wrap up the shoot smoothly

9️⃣ focus on getting better, always look ahead to your next big project and ways to improve from the last time, never nitpick but always tell yourself the truth.

🔟 always strut your stuff, no one can strut YOU quite like you do 😉
