Bob Arnold of USNR explained how scanners now detect knots, splits, bark pockets, and other defects while optimizing grade and yield using NHLA rules. The system’s deep neural network can analyze up to 100 boards per minute, applying decades of AI progress to improve grading precision and efficiency.
