Rent a Historian is a local initiative inspired by members of the Melbourne Time Travelers’ Society. Our volunteers help families and community members record and preserve their history from oral history sessions to photo scanning and research help. It’s an easy, affordable way to keep your family’s memories alive for future generations.

🎤 Oral History Sessions — Share your memories in a relaxed, recorded session and receive a digital copy to keep and pass on.
📜 Photo & Document Scanning — We’ll carefully digitize your photos or papers so your family’s story stays safe for the future.

Calling all Alumni and Bulldog fans!!!
Come out tonight to Tom McIntyre stadium as your Melbourne Bulldogs go for their 500th All-Time Win on Homecoming night. The Pride of Mel-High Marching band performs at 7pm and Homecoming festivities will be at halftime to crown the new King and Queen. Bulldogs take on East River, kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

We have some exciting news to share! This isn’t just a fenced off oak tree, it's a fenced off oak tree with young children of West Melbourne pioneers buried underneath it! Previously, you may recall us accidentally discovering the Maxie Brannan on Apple Maps, and after a bit of researching and behind-the-scenes work, we’re just waiting on the City of Palm Bay’s approval to allow us to start restoring the cemetery.

Our end goal is to have the cemetery cleaned up with a historical marker explaining the known burials and the families who lived in the area. The cemetery has suffered many losses with the expansion and widening of Palm Bay Road, so we hope to preserve what is left and give Palm Bay another historical site to be proud of.

We’re always looking for local businesses to help support our operations and projects, such as developing a scavenger hunt to teach students about our school’s history and hosting a Melbourne history exhibition to share our research with the general community.

Today we celebrate the unstoppable force behind MTTS!🎉

Today, we’re celebrating Kyle’s birthday! His dedication to Melbourne’s Time Travelers’ Society is unimaginable. From collecting nearly sixty yearbooks from the DCR pile to writing for both Dug from the Backyard (our bi-weekly history recap publication) and Green Gables’ newsletter, he does so much for Melbourne history.

Kyle scours archives and collections to find forgotten information, like why our school campus has a diverse range of building ages. He also manages, preserves, and organizes our vintage and antique items, making sure all 18 of our major items like our brand new 1940s National Co. Sewing Machine have a safe place to live a new life.

Kyle is more than our president. He’s a friend, a partner in curiosity, and the driving force behind all we do. Always eager, always helpful, whether tackling a project solo or rallying the whole group, Kyle makes things happen.

Happy Birthday, Kyle! We’re lucky to have you! 🎂🎉
