Had the amazing opportunity to attend the Balaam Allen Juneteenth Celebration today at the Greater Allen Chapel A.M.E Church. Balaam Allen was one of Crane Creek/Melbourne’s founders and died in 1893 without a proper headstone placed. The great people at METCA, CRA, the City of Melbourne, and Greater Allen Chapel came together to give Allen a proper headstone and honor his legacy.

Meanwhile, the Melbourne Founders Museum offered self-guided tours of Wright and Mary Brothers’ home now located at 1001 Brothers Avenue.

We will be working with the Founders Museum more in the future to help spread the word of Peter Wright, Wright Brothers, and Balaam Allen’s impact and legacy and their plans for a memorial.
