Great job!

🎉Wrapping up 2024! 🎉

We couldn’t be prouder of our phenomenal team as last year brought some unique challenges. Police related calls for service reaches a record high in 2024 topping out at 99,803! This is a jump of 12,773 more police calls compared to the prior year. 🚔

🔢By the Numbers in 2024:

911 Calls: 25,522
Business Line Calls: 64,471
Fire Calls Dispatched: 14,223
Police Calls Dispatched: 99,803
Other calls: 28,923

Despite the incredible workload, our PST’s remained the calm voices in chaos, seamlessly coordinating resources to ensure public safety. I know we are proud to serve our 6 communities on a daily basis and are excited to see what 2025 will bring!

So many people have been reaching out in regards to the dog that was abandoned at Joe’s Rock this morning. We appreciate everyone reaching out, but he is not available for adoption at this time.

We will gladly accept food donations amongst other things if anyone would like to contribute. We have him on a very strict meal plan right now & he is eating Purina One Digestive Health dry food.

We are calling him “Joey”. He is doing great in our care and has been getting some very much needed TLC (and a much needed bath!)

We are still looking for information in regards to the person who is responsible for abandoning him.

If anyone has any information in regards to the sweet pup, please reach out to animal control at 508-384-2121 option two. You can remain anonymous!

From Police Chief Bill McGrath:

WRENTHAM POLICE SERGEANT DERICK CASSIDY PROMOTED TO DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF.

On December 17, 2024, Sgt. Derick Cassidy will be sworn in as Deputy Police Chief for the Town of Wrentham.

In 2011, Derick transferred from the Plainville P.D., where he was a permanent intermittent officer, to the Wrentham P.D. to serve as a full-time police officer. Over the course of his career, Derick attended many specialized law enforcement trainings, including D.A.R.E Instructor; Narcotics Investigations and Autism Awareness, the latter being very near and very dear to his heart. He also furthered his college education to attain a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice and is currently working on his Master’s degree.

In July of 2023, Derick was promoted from Patrol Officer to the rank of Patrol Sergeant, supervising police officers assigned to patrol shifts. More recently, he was assigned as the department Administrative Sergeant, overseeing criminal investigations; property & evidence and acting as the Wrentham Police Court Prosecutor.

Throughout the years, Sgt. Derick Cassidy has proven himself a solid police officer and supervisor, always eager to lead and just as eager to learn. Beyond his assigned duties, Derick has always been quick to jump in and help out wherever and whenever needed, without being asked, happy to be out of the limelight. Always respected by his peers, Derick is quick to mentor and be mentored, vital traits of any person in a leadership position.

Derick hails from Brockton, the “City of Champions”. He is a graduate of Brockton High School and attended Massasoit Community College for his Associates degree. He also worked as a security manager at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton before becoming a police officer.

Last, but certainly not least, Derick is married with four children. I’m more than certain his wife, Becky and four children, Ryan, Aaron, Mya and Cole are beyond proud of his latest career accomplishment. Equally proud are his dad and mom, Dave and Sheila, his brother Chad and mother-in-law, Claire.

Congratulations to Deputy Police Chief Derick Cassidy!
