Norwood Police units are on the scene of a shots fired call on Folan Avenue. The information here is preliminary as we are in the very early stages of an investigation.

At 3:16 AM we received a 911 call from a resident of Folan Avenue requesting police assistance for an apparent domestic. As police units arrived on scene, they heard a series of gunshots and a car raced towards them from the caller’s address. One officer in the street discharged their service firearm at the vehicle but the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed and fled the area. It appears no one was struck by any of the gunfire.

Norwood Police officers and detectives are at the scene and are being assisted by State Police Ballistics and the Crime Scene Services Section.

Town meeting passed funding for the Bernie Cooper Riverfront Park last night! This is such a big win for getting more river access to the mighty Neponset and beautiful Hawes Brook. We can't wait to start on this new park.

We expect to get 50% of construction costs reimbursed from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, after the National Park Service finishes their review of the state's grant recommendations. This might take awhile but it will be worth the wait. In the meantime, we can get a start on full engineering plans and permitting as soon as fiscal year 2023 gets started this July.

Don't forget to set your clocks ahead this weekend!

According to Wikipedia.org "The idea of aligning waking hours to daylight hours to conserve candles was first proposed in 1784 by American polymath Benjamin Franklin. In a satirical letter to the editor of The Journal of Paris, Franklin suggested that waking up earlier in the summer would economize candle usage and calculated considerable savings. In 1895, New Zealand entomologist and astronomer George Hudson seriously proposed the idea of changing clocks by two hours every spring to the Wellington Philosophical Society, as he wanted to have more daylight hours to devote to collecting and examining insects."
