On the eve of Franklin’s Special Election to determine the fate of a proposed Proposition 2 1/2 override, Franklin Public Schools teachers, administrators and other employees turned out to gather public support for the measure.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Franklin High School on June 11, 2024.

The question for voters:

Shall the Town of Franklin be allowed to assess an additional 6.8 million dollars in real estate and
personal property taxes for the purpose of the operating budget for which monies from this assessment will be used for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024?

Introducing the newest member of the FPD…

The Franklin Police Department is excited to announce the arrival of Ben Franklin’s new
partner, Frankie! Frankie is a 6 month old chocolate lab recruited from Professional
Canine Services of Middleboro MA. Frankie will be partnered with Ben and Officer Gove
of the Department’s Community Services Unit. Frankie will begin her training this
summer by attending rigorous training to become a therapy dog. She will also be trained
as a “friendly find” search dog to assist with searches for missing people.

Upon completion of her training, she will participate in an intensive field training program
with Ben and the rest of the FPD Community Services Unit. Once all of her training is
completed, she will be ready to meet the public while serving the students and residents
of Franklin.

For now, she has been getting to know her surroundings and meeting all of her new co-
workers who are ecstatic to have a new member of the team. Frankie is thrilled for the opportunity to work with Ben and Officer Gove.

Ben Franklin Is excited to train and work with Frankie. He has already started to show
her the ropes and they bonded immediately. He is excited to share some of the
workload and to work with Frankie.

We are looking forward to having two highly trained therapy dogs here in the
Department/community to serve the public.

Stay tuned for more updates and please feel free to reach out to Officer David Gove
at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Surprise visit!

We received a call last night from an 11 year old boy requesting a Norfolk Police Department patch. Ryan collects patches and has over 420, some being international. Ryan’s grandmother was the trooper today driving him all over from Peabody, MA. The word spread pretty quickly. In addition to Norfolk PD, Ryan was able to get a patch from us, Franklin, Plainville, and Wrentham Police Departments.

Of course, Ofc. Cruiser🐕 heard there was going to be someone to give him lots of attention so he did not miss out.

Thank you Ofc. Gilboy from Franklin PD, Ofc. Milano from Norfolk PD, Ofc. McEvoy from Plainville PD, Sgt. Morris and Ofc. Cruiser from Wrentham PD, for coming together last minute to share some patches with Ryan.
