Wizards of the Coast (WotC), a company owned by Hasbro, is backing completely off of their plans to create a new OGL after the massive backlash from fans.
What this means for Shield Blade Publishing? It doesn't change the latest plans for designing materials and games under the ORC license that Paizo is developing. The ORC will be a great addition to the table top gaming community, as well as offer Hasbro an honest challenger for keeping fans attention. Since the ORC will be owned by a non profit neutral party, it'll forever be safe from greedy suits. And all of the largest 3rd party designers for D&D are still moving forward with their plans to publish under ORC.
WotC is also adding more of their material to their Creative Commons and returning to their original OGL that has been in place over 2 decades and been part of the reason D&D has gone mainstream. This means that Shield Blade will also restart the plans for creating D&D materials with new adventures, classes, monsters, etc. As well as a setting or 2 based on writers that are published or in the process of publishing through Shield Blade Publishing.
If you're a fan of role playing games, this might be the beginning of a golden age for the gaming community. And the lesson learned here is, don't fix something if it isn't broken on the first place.
Wizards of the Coast cancel plans to reauthorize OGL 1.0a after immense backlash from fans since attempting to change its rules for DnD creators.
