In 1981 I was working for Capitol Records in the sales and distribution division. That year was my first introduction to the Greg Kihn Band with their hit, “The Breakup Song”. Greg followed up a couple of years later with his hit, “Jeopardy”. It was a great era for music.
Fast forward several years, and I got to work with Greg Kihn and his son, Ryan Kihn. Good people to be sure.
Today, Ry announced that Greg passed away at the age of 75 from Alzheimer’s complications. Rest in peace, Greg, and thank you!

One of my favorite singers is also one of the coolest and most decent guys on the planet. I’ve had the pleasure of working with T. Graham Brown and his lovely wife, Sheila.
T. is known as a country singer but the guy has one of the most soulful voices I’ve ever heard. He can sing anything, including blues and rock and roll.
Since it’s a phenomenal summer weekend, I wanted to share this recording of T… and The Beach Boys.

Sunday’s Oldie of the Week

You Light Up My Life" is a ballad written by Joseph Brooks, and originally recorded by Kasey Cisyk for the soundtrack album to the 1977 film of the same title. The song was lip synced in the film by its lead actress, Didi Conn. The best-known cover version of the song is a cover by Debby Boone, the daughter of singer Pat Boone. It held the No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for TEN consecutive weeks in 1977.

I love being the age I am because I got to experience some very magical moments in my life.
When I was a very young boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I might be walking down the street with my grandparents on a early summer evening and there would be a group of guys standing under a streetlight on the corner, singing a ca****la. This video really takes me back to a special time and place.

It’s no secret I believe music has saved my life more than once. For me it creates an indescribable magic that reaches a healing place inside of me.
One of my all-time favorites is “Vincent” by Don McLean. The song was originally released in early 1972 but Don has recently re-recorded it with the acapella group, Home Free. It is absolutely beautiful. I wanted to share it with you, my friends.

Happy Birthday 🎂to my good friend, Karolyn Zuzu Grimes. Karolyn played little ZuZu Bailey, the daughter of Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in the 1946 movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”. You know her famous line, “every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings”.
She has been so good to me over the years we’ve known each other. Happy birthday, my friend!

With everything going on in the world, you might think that evil has the upper hand. My friends, that would be incorrect.
Starting at 7:30 this morning, many of us gathered at Wesley United Methodist Church in Greenville to help Community Seeds of Lone Oak distribute boxes of food to our fellow county residents.
Here we are, black, white, Hispanic, male, female, rich, poor, old, young, Democrat, Republican working together to bring love to our neighbors.
Evil has not and will not win. Believe that!
