9: 15 AM EDT WEATHER UPDATE: From our weather partner Wabash Region Weather. The Storm Prediction Center has maintained a Level 3 of 5 risk for the entire area. However the tornado threat has decreased somewhat. We no longer expect the large violent tornado threat to materialize which is a good thing. Still we could see isolated tornadoes at any given point today. Regardless if a tornado comes down your street today becomes a very significant day for you. Damaging winds and hail are also a good possibility. Don't let your guard down. Make sure you have multiple ways of getting warnings.

BREAKING WEATHER: From our weather partner Northern Indiana Weather Blog. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have now been issued for our area.

WINTER STORM WARNING: A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for areas East of Warsaw. from 4 AM to 8 PM EST Wednesday. This is where we expect the highest impact from this incoming winter storm.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for areas from Warsaw and points North and West from 4 AM to 8 PM EST Wednesday. This is where we expect a little less snow and impacts not to be as severe as those to the East. Regardless you should still prepare for accumulating snow and difficult travel.

IMPACTS: No real change in our thinking in terms of snowfall amounts. We did make a minor adjustment to our map but nothing super significant. Understand there could be locally higher amounts anywhere on this map. These are the ranges we simply feel are most likely based on the data we have. This stuff is science and to be honest it's not easy. Make preparations now for a significant winter storm. Travel will be difficult if not very difficult at times. I'd avoid travel on Wednesday if possible. There may also be a few power outages. Make sure you have a good source of heat available. Charge up your mobile devices.

TODAY'S FORECAST: It's going to be quite the warm and muggy day across the area. Heat index values will run between 98 and 102 degrees. Dew points will be in the upper 70's. This will help create an unstable atmosphere and thus storms some strong to severe mainly along and East of I-69. Damaging winds would be the primary concern. Make sure you have a good source of warning information handy just in case. I'll have more on the severe threat later this morning.

EXTENDED FORECAST: From our weather partner Northern Indiana Weather Blog. Good evening everyone. Here's a look at your extended forecast. Don't be surprised if we see a stray shower or storm after midnight tonight. A weakening complex of storms will try to make its way in here from Wisconsin. There is considerable uncertainty as to whether it survives the trip or not. If it does we could see a marginally severe wind gust with any storm that survives the trip.

NEXT 7 DAYS: Looking at the next 7 days we will likely be flirting with record warmth tomorrow for this time of year with highs in some locations getting into the upper 80's potentially. The heat index will be in the 90's tomorrow as well so just keep that in mind. A look at our muggy meter and wind forecast for the next 5 days clearly shows tomorrow being our most challenging day in terms of heat. Another cool down arrives by the first of next week. I hope all of you get a chance to get out and enjoy the warmer weather.
