As a Breeder…
To you, who call only to ask the price and you get scandalized. You have no idea. You have no idea how hard it is sometimes to be a breeder. You have no idea how much it costs for a puppy to reach two or three months and to go to their new home.
There are many who stay along the way and die in your hands. Sometimes even after sleepless days or weeks trying everything for that unsuccessful puppy. You have no idea the desperation that causes, you lose all your strength and for a moment think it's not worth it and you consider leaving everything for a ′′ normal ′′ life but you see how they look at you and move on.
To you, who stresses you've seen them cheaper. You have no idea. No idea the expenses a litter carries.
No, you have no idea, when you think this is just a business, that we live off our dogs. I correct you, we live by and for our dogs. It's 365 days, 24 hours. No 8 hours of work and then you go home and forget everything. No, they don't understand weekends, holidays or if your head hurts. Your whole life changes when you decide to be a breeder. Change your house, it will never be free of hair anymore. There will be dog beds and toys in every room in the house. In your fridge there will be dog food too. If you had a white leather couch, forget it, a fantastic ikea quilt will cover it. Also your car will change, if you liked cool sports cars, now you will have a van with no seats. Your electricity and water bill will skyrocket. You'll be a shareholder of bleach brands, mopers, air fresheners and mosquito repellents and see yourself begging newspapers in bars and newsstands. 99 % of your clothes will be purchased in the decathlon and your shoes will be Crocs (closed in winter and with summer holes). You'll see less of your family and friends and when you meet them you'll be the last to arrive because you had to leave your dogs ready before you leave.
If you have a partner, you have heaven earned because it's either a dog like you or you have infinite patience. And that hopefully, because with the life we lead, the most normal thing is to stay single. No, we are not easy to understand. It's not easy to understand that, being honest, we put our dogs before anything and get to a point, to anyone.
But we love what we do and that's why we do it because it's something you put your whole heart to and can't conceive it any other way. No, you have no idea, if after talking to a breeder and hearing him talk about his dogs or visiting his house, you think they're just production animals. We don't ask for extra recognition or feel sorry, pity or compassion, but don't throw away what we do and love.
Thank !!! there are many people who do value our effort and when they incorporate a puppy raised by you into their lives, they appreciate all the work behind so they can now enjoy that earthquake that is a pride of perhaps decades of dedication. Thank you to all those people who repeat dog from the same breeder and recommend you to anyone who asks.
Thank you, because for a breeder there is nothing better than seeing his pups happy and enjoying their new home and all that suffering, suffering and losses that often happen, forget when we see who we have helped come into the world to be and make happy.
I'm a breeder and proud of it 🖤🐾
